Springs Ensemble Theatre to Present CLOWN BAR at the Zodiac Venue

By:

Springs Ensemble Theatre ("SET") continues our seventh season with Clown Bar by Adam Szymkowicz.

Join SET as we stage a site-specific performance in collaboration with The Zodiac Venue, Peaks and Pasties, and local musical groups, "The Mostly Don'ts," "Band Idiot," and "Joseph Lamar"!

Hard-boiled detective Happy Mahoney's brother is found dead. Now Happy must venture back into the seedy underbelly of the city to find his brother's killer. Will Happy get dragged back down into this world of vice, violence, and...clowns? Wait... what? Clowns!?

Springs Ensemble Theatre is pulling ALL the silly strings with Adam Szymkowicz's 'clown noir' Clown Bar. Performed at Colorado Springs entertainment venue The Zodiac (aka "The Clown Bar"), attendees are encouraged to dress the part and engage in the Clown atmosphere of this immersive performance. Peaks and Pasties burlesque dancers will take the stage at 9:00 pm. The play, a crime noir...starring clowns...begins shortly thereafter. Live music will be provided by a variety of local musicians. Each weekend will feature a different musical style. The first weekend, May 13-14, brings a punk rock spin with "The Mostly Don'ts" voted best Punk Band two years in a row by the Indy Music Awards. On May 20-21, "Band Idiot" takes the stage with American rock originals. Closing weekend brings "Joseph Lamar" to the stage with Free Pop genre stylings.

Directed by 2012 True West Special Award winner (Reservoir Dogs) and Ensemble member, Crystal Carter, Clown Bar delivers performances from some of the most talented comedic actors in Colorado Springs. Featuring SET Members Micah Spiers headlining as Happy Mahoney and Max Ferguson in the role of Bobo, guest artists performing in this production include Erick Groskopf, Angela Kinnett, Tammy Smith, Erica Ericson, David Atkinson, Bob Morsch, Jack Williamson, and Nikita Bonita.

Clown Bar will be performed at The Zodiac Venue, located at 230 Pueblo Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. The play runs May 13-28, (May 13-14, May 20-21, & May 27-28). Friday and Saturday performances are at 9 pm. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended. Please know that this performance is adult in nature and audience members must be 18 years old or older. Tickets are $15, with group rates available. $10 student rush tickets are available for every performance (valid ID is required, rush tickets are only available at the box office 5 minutes before the performance).
