This Spring Give Thanks For Great Comedy At The Playhouse

Spring and comedy are in the air beginning March 23 when THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, with support from the Rosenthal Family Foundation, opens in the Shelterhouse Theatre. The satirical take on political correctness run amok plays through April 21. Opening night is March 28.

Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park Announces 2019-2020 Season

Artistic Director Blake Robison announced Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's 2019-20 season today, which includes plays from Karen Zacarias and Anna Ziegler, a new stage adaptation of a Margaret Atwood novel, a recent Broadway comedy hit and a world premiere from the award-winning, multi-cultural performance ensemble Universes.

World Premiere Of THE LAST WIDE OPEN Debuts Feb. 9

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will present THE LAST WIDE OPEN, a love story that encourages audiences to take a personal, humorous look at modern-day courtship, romance and relationships, just in time for Valentine's Day. It begins Feb. 9 in the Shelterhouse Theatre and runs through March 10, with support from The Rosenthal Family Foundation, Season Sponsor of New Work. Opening night is Feb. 14.

Full Cast And Creative Team Announced For JQA At Arena Stage

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for the world premiere of Aaron Posner's JQA, recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award. The first of Posner's plays that is not adapted from an existing work, JQA shines a spotlight with humor and care on an ineffectual presidency, the idea of government and how a society lives in relationship to it, and the American experiment as it continues to evolve. Directed by Posner as well, JQA runs March 1 through April 14, 2019 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's IN THE HEIGHTS Comes to Cincinnati Playhouse

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical IN THE HEIGHTS will delight Cincinnati audiences this winter at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park beginning Jan. 19, 2019. The Broadway hit, which won four Tony Awards including best musical and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, runs through Feb. 17, 2019. Official opening night is Jan. 24, 2019.

The Spirits Of The Season Return To Cincinnati Playhouse in A CHRISTMAS CAROL

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's joyous, time-honored celebration of the true meaning of the holidays returns for its 28th season as First Financial Bank presents Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The beloved, iconic story will be performed Nov. 21 through Dec. 29 in the Playhouse's Robert S. Marx Theatre. (Opening night is Nov. 23.)

Jane Austen's Beloved Characters Return In MISS BENNET: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY

What happens to the Bennet sisters after the events in Pride and Prejudice? Jane Austen fans can find out for themselves in the romantic comedy MISS BENNET: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, beginning at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park Oct. 13. The Marx Theatre production runs through Nov. 10 (Opening night is Oct. 18.)

Jen Silverman's THE ROOMMATE Moves Into The Shelterhouse Theatre, Today

Sharon, a recently divorced homemaker from Iowa, needs a roommate. Robyn, a slam poet from New York, needs a chance to start over. When they find each other through a roommate listing, hilarity (and some illegal activity) ensues. Beginning Sept. 21, Shelterhouse audiences can come along for the ride in THE ROOMMATE and watch two empty-nesters navigate the rocky roads of change. The play runs through Oct. 21 (Opening Night is Sept. 27.).

Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park Announces Capital Project Update

Artistic Director Blake Robison revealed late yesterday new developments in Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's capital building project to replace the current Marx Theatre with a brand-new mainstage theatre complex. The plan was first announced in February 2017. During a meeting with civic leaders at the Queen City Club, an updated plan for the proposed mainstage theatre complex was outlined, and it will allow performances to continue on-site during construction. The new mainstage theatre complex will cost $39.5 million.

Cincinnati Playhouse Presents The World Premiere Of SOONER/LATER

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will present the world premiere of SOONER/LATER in the Shelterhouse Theatre March 24 (Opening Night is March 29). The play will run through April 21 with support from The Rosenthal Family Foundation, Season Sponsor of New Work.

National Directors Fellowship Now Accepting Applications

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, National New Play Network, and Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation have announced open applications for a fourth round of fellows of the National Directors Fellowship (NDF).
