City Parks Foundation proudly brings Complexions Contemporary Ballet to SummerStage as a part of our 25th anniversary season for a special two day performance.

With the tough beauty of her writing and the fierce authenticity of her characters, Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award-winning playwright Dael Orlandersmith will bring two of her works to Los Angeles in July and August, the West Coast premiere of her solo performance piece 'Stoop Stories' and the world premiere of her new play 'Bones.' Both plays will be presented as part of DouglasPlus programming at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.

Marion J. Caffey's 3 Mo' Divas will be live again at the Apollo Theater but this time, in the Up Close & Personal setting of the Apollo Theater's 3rd floor Sound Stage. This wonderfully intimate performance space (150 seats) will have you face to face with three of the most powerful and versatile voices on the planet. Singing music from their PBS TV Special and from their NAACP Image Award Nominated CD...and Mo'. This is the Divas 3rd time playing the Apollo, but their first time in this intimate setting. New York audiences will feel like the Divas are in their own living room.

Lea DeLaria will be presenting two nights of comedy and song at the Manor Epic Showroom Friday, July 30th and July 31st at 7:30 p.m. for the benefit of Rising Action Theatre. This is the first partnership between Rising Action Theatre and The Manor Complex. 'We anticipate this will be a great success, and we plan to do more of these events in the future,' says David Goldyn, Rising Action's Producing Artistic Director. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the full slate of 27 musical productions, a developmental reading series and special events for their seventh annual festival. Outstanding young bands will play traditional jazz in Hot Jazz/Cool Garden, a free concert series at the Louis Armstrong House Museum. The popular concerts will be held in the beautiful and shady Japanese-style garden built by jazz legend Louis Armstrong and his wife Lucille. All concerts are from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.

Students from AMDA, CAP21, Julliard, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Melon, Marymount and The New School made their Broadway debut on the stage of The Town Hall last night, July 19, at the 4th Annual Summer Broadway Festival, created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall. This Broadway's Rising Stars program featured music and dance, coupled with witty insider tidbits, all performed by Broadway's finest rising talent from these leading theatrical institutions.
