Dark Star Pictures has acquired North American rights to Steve Mitchell's King Cohen, the true story of writer, producer, director, creator and all-around maverick, Larry Cohen.

Dark Star Pictures has acquired all North American rights for punk-rock thriller The Icarus Line Must Die. Dark Star will release the film theatrically in June of 2018 with July home video release. The Icarus Line Must Die made its world premiere at the 2017 Nonplussed Fest (Opening Night Feature) and went on to screen at Highland Park IFF (Winner Best Feature), Chicago Movies & Music Festival (Special Jury Award), and San Francisco Independent Film Festival. Dark Star Pictures President Michael Repsch negotiated the deal with Bridge Independents' Bill Straus and writer/director Michael Grodner.

At the end of every Season, the members of the creative collective known as Theatre Artists Studio put their muses to work and author, produce, direct, and act in a series of playlets. This year's installment of NEW SUMMER SHORTS, the company's 11th, includes a mix of eight 10-15 minute plays, each of which has something to satisfy one's theatrical palate. Some amusing, some inspiring, some provocative, some whimsical ~ all together, a satisfying potpourri.

Theatre Artists Studio's Carol McLeod has created a taut and well-paced interpretation of STOREFRONT CHURCH. Her cast delivers the goods, balancing wit and intensity to produce a provocative reflection on the limits of morality. The show runs through March 12th.

The three great American institutions: Business, Religion and Politics, collide in the engaging, humorous play by Pulitzer, Tony, and Oscar award winning playwright John Patrick Shanley. Completing Shanley's "Church and State" trilogy which includes Doubt and Defiance, Storefront Church examines the intricate, and sometimes tenuous, relationships of a Bronx borough as its residents are confronted with spiritual, financial, and moral crossroads.

Michael Fleck's TIDE POOLS ~ a creative, contemplative, and lovely 'paean' to Steinbeck ~ is one of eight engaging short plays on themes comical and whimsical and all relevant in Theatre Artists Studio's ninth annual festival of innovations, New Summer Shorts.
