Titled after a composition by Louis Armstrong and Lilian Hardin, Struttin' With Some Barbecue will help support the rapidly blossoming Brooklyn Music School (BMS) Jazz Department. It's a chance to enjoy the down-home feel of southern food, swinging music, and jazz community that will make anyone think they've been transported straight to New Orleans, all the while helping support Jazz at BMS.

The Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM today announced that the Roxy Coss Quintet is the winner of the union's groundbreaking Emerging Artists Project (EAP). The four-year grant program, launched in partnership with Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL), has been designed to provide support to help more firmly establish the band in New York City—and further efforts to ensure that all professional musicians can afford to live, work and raise a family in New York.

'As a drummer, I'm always trying to write things you wouldn't expect,' says Quinerly. On 'Words to Love,' his third album as a leader which is set for April 20 release by Redefinition Music, Quinerly composed music and lyrics for eight songs exploring the many facets of love.

This evening's performance is a benefit concert to support Greenwich House Music School. As a community music school, GHMS serves the musical needs of students of all ages in addition to hosting a wide spectrum of concerts, readings, education workshops and meetings for local civic and cultural organizations, as well as providing affordable rehearsal and performance space for local musicians. The School offers $50,000 in arts education scholarships and public school outreach each year, adhering to its 113 year commitment to arts education.
