NBC's rebroadcast of The Sound of Music Live! delivered more than 3 million additional viewers, adding to the 18.4 million who tuned in to the initial presentation on Thursday, December 5th.

The network will re-air the Dec. 5 three-hour live musical event, starring Carrie Underwood, tonight, Dec. 14 at 8.p.m. EST. The Sound of Music Live! replaces NBC's scheduled airing of the holiday classic IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, which will now air on Dec. 20.

NBC's THE SOUND OF MUSIC live 3-hour TV event on December 5 was an unprecedented success, racking up over 20 million viewers (when calculating in DVR) and NBC has proceeded to announce a re-airing of the complete broadcast this Saturday, with an attention-grabbing new promo now available to view.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC will air on the small screen yet again this holiday season. This time ABC will broadcast the 1965 film version, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, on December 22 (7pm).

According to the New York Times, in the first three days of delayed viewing, NBC's SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE! has added close to three million viewers, bringing the total number of viewers to 21.3 million. In addition, the broadcast added another full rating point among the coveted 18 - 49 demographic.

According to The New York Times, Robert Greenblatt, NBC's chairman of the entertainment division, has confirmed that the network will stage another live musical in 2014, with 'MUSIC' executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan.

A new family-focused promo for this week's hotly anticipated live TV presentation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC starring Carrie Underwood is now available to view, featuring comments from the country music superstar herself.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Universal TV production of NBC's THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE will air at least one additional time prior to Christmas Day. The original broadcast will take place live tomorrow, Thursday December 5th at 8 pm.

Point Park alumnus and Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford will direct the classic musical, The Sound of Music, live on NBC at 8 p.m. Eastern, Thursday, Dec. 5.
