Akvavit Theatre to Present THEY DIED WHERE THEY LIED, 10/31-12/1

Akvavit Theatre presents their initial production of the 2013 - 2014 season, Swedish playwright Sofia Freden's They Died Where They Lied, co-directed by Akvavit company members Matthew Isler and Mark Litwicki, translated by Edward Buffalo Bromberg and playing at the Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., October 31 - December 1. Regular performances occur Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Industry night is Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and there will be special Thursday performances on October 31 (first preview) and November 21 at 7:30 p.m. Press/Opening night is Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Regular ticket prices are $20 for single tickets and $15 any performance for industry/students. Tickets are currently on sale and available online at www.brownpapertickets.com, and at the door the night of performances, based on availability. League of Chicago Theatres' STOREFRONT AND CENTER Celebrates World Theatre Day

The League of Chicago Theatres announces plans for Chicago's celebration of World Theatre Day, featuring a panel about international work being done in Chicago and at the storefront level. This year's event, Storefront and Center, will be held today, March 27, 2013 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Owen Theatre at The Goodman Theatre, 170 N Dearborn Street in Chicago.

Akvavit Theatre Continues GJENGANGER Through 3/24

Akvavit Theatre presents two Chicago and one United States premieres of the work of Europe's most-produced living playwright, Norway's Jon Fosse, under the unified title of Gjenganger, February 28 - March 24, 2013 at the DCASE Storefront Theater, 66 East Randolph St. The "short full-length" plays, presented in rotation (two per night and all three Sundays) are: Winter, directed by Paul S. Holmquist, Autumn Dream, directed by Breahan Eve Pautsch,* and A Summer's Day, directed by Wm. Bullion.* Original musical arrangements for the three plays are by Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering. The performance schedule for Gjenganger is Thursdays (A Summer's Day/Winter), Fridays (Winter/Autumn Dream) and Saturdays (Autumn Dream/A Summer's Day) at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays (all three plays) at 3 p.m. ("Gjenganger" is the Norwegian word for "those who walk again.")
