Theatre East presents the beloved and timely tale A CHRISTMAS CAROL just in time for the holidays. This special installment of the Neighborhood Reading Series will definitely put you in the spirit of the season.

Theatre East's 2018-19 season kicks off on Friday, September 21, with a celebration of Romulus Linney's masterful play, Holy Ghosts on what would be his 88thBirthday. The play, set in present-day rural Tennessee, a group of broken, Pentecostal outcasts find solace, understanding, and strength in one another as they wrestle with their own serpents and discover their divinity.

The production will run at Urban Stages, 259 West 30th Street, from Friday, September 21st through Saturday, October 6th. 

The 10th season will open with Romulus Linney's masterful play, Holy Ghosts after a 40-year absence from the New York Stage. Theatre East joins NYC Pride to celebrate with a special installment of the Neighborhood Reading Series Monday, June 18 as part of Pride Week.

The 5X5 Drama Series was founded in 2016 to bring great new plays beyond the footlights and into nontraditional spaces like breweries, rooftops, and taverns to provide an immersive and unique audience experience. The 90-minute program consists of 5 short plays performed by 5 casts and is performed in all 5 boroughs. Fulfilling one of our core beliefs to make theatre more accessible to all, 5X5 brings the stage directly to the people in the spaces where they gather, learn and relax. Theatre East will conclude its BOOGIE DOWN LOUD SERIES, sponsored by O'Lunney's Times Square Pub, Sunday night.

Theatre East honored Richard Mawe with the 2017 Laurette Taylor Award on Monday, May 15th in New York City. Richard Mawe, an ardent supporter of the arts, served for decades as a teacher and Board President at HB Studio where he studied with Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen. Theatre East presents the BOOGIE DOWN LOUD SERIES, sponsored by Bronx Brewery, as a Summer Spin-Off of the Neighborhood Reading Series.

Theatre East Board of Directors presents Richard Mawe with the 2017 Laurette Taylor Award on Monday, May 15th at Cafe Tallulah, 240 Columbus Ave, in the Upper West Side. The benefit starts at 7pm with an exclusive cocktail reception. Tickets start at $100. The evening will include tributes, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, entertainment, and an auction.
