The Skivvies Bring I TOUCH MY ELF to Feinstein's at the Nikko

This holiday season, the "musically thrilling," award-winning, undie-rock, comedy-pop duo The Skivvies-featuringLauren Molina and Nick Cearley-bring their holiday show, I Touch My Elf, to Feinstein's at the Nikko for one performance only - Thursday, December 13 at 8 p.m.

When there is a sick child in a family, says playwright Anne Marilyn Lucas, an entire family revolves around the child's illness.  In 2016 more American lives were taken by drug overdoses than were lost in the Vietnam War, according to the Centers for Disease Control, and deaths increased by 10.7%, to 72,000, the following year. 

BWW Interview: Portia's No SWEAT on Strong Roles, Nottage & Rashad

Playwright Lynn Nottage's 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winning SWEAT, her raw take on the intertwining issues affecting a close-knit group of Reading, Pennsylvania townsfolk, has just opened at the Mark Taper Forum. Portraying Cynthia, the inescapable lightning rod in SWEAT's volatile scenario, Nottage stalwart Portia brings a human face to a multiple of 'faceless' generalized preconceptions. Portia gave us her thoughts on working with Lynn Nottage, Phylicia Rashad and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble Presents THE DINGDONG: OR HOW THE FRENCH KISS

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE), the professional Equity company in residence at the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage (COD) opens its 2018-2019 season with "The Dingdong, or How the French Kiss," a new adaptation by Mark Shanahan from "Le Dindon" by Georges Feydeau. Five actors play 13 roles in this bubbly, fast-paced adaptation of Feydeau's classic directed by BTE Artistic Director Connie Canaday Howard, where opening the wrong door can lead to mayhem, giggles and ultimately some unexpected understandings of a happy marriage. The play runs Sept. 6-Oct. 7. There will be a preview Sept. 6. Press opening is Friday, Sept. 7.   

Glaspell Award-Winning HITLER'S TASTERS Makes NYC Premiere With New Light Theater Project

New Light Theater Project is thrilled to present the New York premiere of HITLER'S TASTERS written by Michelle Kholos Brooks and directed by Sarah Norris. HITLER'S TASTERS begins performances on Friday, October 5 for a limited engagement through Saturday, October 27. Press opening is Wednesday, October 10 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Wednesday - Friday at 7:30 PM, Saturday at 3 PM & 7:30 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM. Please note the following schedule adjustments: the Sunday, October 7 performance is at 7 PM and there are added performances on Monday, October 8 and Monday, October 22 at 7:30 PM. BWW Review: Bay Street Theater's Production Of EVITA

The Bay Street Theater of Sag Harbor closes out their dazzling 27th Mainstage Season with a thrilling production of the Tony winning musical Evita under the clever direction of Will Pomerantz who also serves as Bay Street's Associate Artistic Director. Now running through September 2nd, this production boasts an absolutely brilliant cast as the adorable Long Island venue executes an innovative incarnation of the iconic Tim RiceAndrew Lloyd Webber tuner. Now I know it may seem productions of this show are a dime-a-dozen… but this particular production should really not be missed.

Bay Street Theater Announces Its First Ever Intern Production

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the first ever summer intern production, OBAMA-OLOGY by Aurin Squire, directed by Bay Street's Directing/Producing intern Shea King and starring Bay Street Theater's 2018 Acting Apprentices. This production will run as the first show ever directed, produced, designed, and acted entirely by the summer intern company at Bay Street Theater. Performances run from August 9 - 11, 2018, with twilight performances at 4 pm.  Tickets are $12 or $10 for students (available at the Box Office only, with student ID.)
