Today, Friday, February 19, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops announced details of the orchestra's 125th anniversary season, May 4-June 20, 2010, outlining programs that celebrate the orchestra's rich tradition of performing the great music of this country's past and present, for which the Boston Pops is so well known.

The New York Pops has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The grant, awarded in the category 'Access to Artistic Excellence,' will support Once Upon a Time and Tomorrow: The Best of Charles Strouse, a concert celebrating the 80th birthday of the Tony Award-winning Broadway composer. The performance will provide the opportunity to explore the works of this time-honored American composer whose talent has advanced the art of musical theater and touched the hearts of music-lovers for generations. The New York Pops holds the unique distinction of being the only symphonic pops orchestra in the country to receive an award from the NEA in the category of 'Access to Artistic Excellence.'

Due to popular demand, Point Park University's Conservatory Theatre Company is adding a performance on Wednesday, April 8 at 8 p.m. to The Rocky Horror Show run at the Pittsburgh Playhouse; patrons who come 'dressed up' to this performance will receive $5 off the regular ticket price of $18. Variety is reporting that BSkyB's Sky Movies will officially co-finance the upcoming remake of Rock Horror Picture Show along with MTV. Under the deal, Sky Movies will exclusively play the movie before making it available on Sky Services and Sky Anytime.
