On this morning's live broadcast of ABC's morning chat fest THE VIEW, host Barbara Walters officially announced that she will step down in summer 2014.

ABC News reports that veteran anchor Barbara Walters will announce her retirement from TV journalism on today's THE VIEW. The newswoman will leave the air during the summer of 2014.

In an interview with TVGuide, Lucci, who was a staple of the hit sudser until it wrapped in 2011, said she 'hopes' she can at least make an appearance on the online revival, currently airing on Hulu and iTunes.
