'If Music Be The Food Of Love - A Benefit for Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen' will be celebrated at Joe's Pub on February 10th, 2020 at 6:30pm (doors open at 6pm), with an after party at Pangea in the East Village (starting at 9:30).
Tuesday January 14th was a fabulous night at the well known east side cabaret haunt, Pangea. The show: “Bits and Pieces” starring cabaret duo, singer/actress Barbara Bleier and theater/film actor/singer, Austin Pendleton. Their special guests were their show director, singer/actress, Barbara Maier Gustern and theater legend Richard Maltby, Jr. This was the second night in a three night run.

Bleier and Pendleton, along with Barbara Maier Gustern and Paul Greenwood, will sing love songs (solos, duets, trios and quartets) by such composers as Richard Rodgers, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kurt Weil, Jonathan Larson, Stephen Sondheim, Peter Larson, George and Ira Gershwin, Francesca Blumenthal and Tom Toce, among others. Paul Greenwood is the Musical Director, and Barbara Maier Gustern directs.

Austin Pendleton and Barbara Bleier are returning to PANGEA, New York's downtown supper club, with a reprise of their show, STARTING HERE- The Songs of Richard Maltby and David Shire. There are two performances scheduled: October 2nd and 9th. Pendleton has been friends with Maltby and Shire since they were all undergraduates at Yale in the 1960s, and had appeared in several of their student productions. The composers have been generous enough to offer some of their unpublished works from earlier and later dates to the duo, and Pendleton and Bleier are thrilled to be performing their work. Paul Greenwood is the Musical Director, and Barbara Maier Gustern directs.

On New Year's Eve, in their first-ever merger of marvelous mayhem, it's Molly Pope & Kim David Smith, cavorting in back-back-shows to ring out 2017 in outr style. Their first ever Champagne-soaked joint escapade, No Thrill from Champagne -- with Tracy Stark on piano -- will definitely swing both ways -- from the glam of yesteryear to the neo-here-and-now It's a merger of one of downtown cabaret's most adventurous performers (Pope) and this generation's Boy from Oz (Smith) (according to the NY Times). Be a part of the sexiest (and most reasonably priced) NYE party in New York -- The evening includes (in both cases) a delicious 3-course dinner, and a half-bottle of Cava per person. Tax and gratuity are inclusive. (Additional beverages are not included, and are billed separately with 18% gratuity added.) Back-to-back shows at 8pm and 10:30pm, Sunday Dec 31.
