The Royal Wedding. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Olympic Games and Ceremonies. Rubicon Theatre Company celebrates our "love affair" with all things British with Private Lives, an elegant and sophisticated comedy by Sir Noel Coward which previews September 5 and opens Saturday, September 8 at the theatre's intimate home in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. A co-production of Rubicon and Laguna Playhouse, Private Lives runs Wednesdays through Sundays through September 30. Get a first look at the cast onstage below!

The Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre kicks off its new season in August with the West Coast premiere of Chinglish. David Henry Hwang won three Obies and the Tony Award for Best Play with popular scripts like M. Butterfly and FOB. Now he's back with a canny comedy of cross-cultural errors. Two-time Obie-winner Leigh Silverman returns to the Roda Theatre to stage the play.

The B Street Theatre, Sacramento's Resident Professional, New Works Theatre, announces its 2012-13 B3 Series productions. The season includes Arthur Miller's The Price which echoes the future in its struggle for intergenerational care and responsibility. In The Conference of the Birds, we see the influence of Eastern cultures and the storytelling that is still applicable in today's Western society. These, combined with the new work Red and the World Premiere that will be announced at the end of the season, will give the 2012-13 B3 Series a combination of significant new works and a few from decades gone by.

42nd Street Moon, the company that presents intimate productions of uncommon musicals, concludes its 2011-12 season with a journey to Greece and Crete for the Kander and Ebb classic, ZORBA. Based on the book Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis, this musical is a salute to the spirit of Greece, where Zorba celebrates life, but also lost love, heartbreak and death. Opening is tonight, Saturday May 5 at 6 pm. The show will run through May 20.

The Bay Area premiere of San Jose Rep's God of Carnage begins previews tonight. This winner of the 2009 Tony Award® for Best Play was written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. The production runs from March 22 to April 15, 2012, with Opening Night on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 pm.

This week The B Street Theatre School Tour production of Fantasy Festival XXVI hits the road. This is the 26th year that elementary and middle schools students throughout northern California have submitted original plays to B Street's annual playwriting contest for young people. Out of over 150 plays submitted this year, just 5 have been selected for the tour. The resulting combined show of these 5 winning plays will be performed at 153 assemblies in over 108 schools in northern California between March 19 and June 8, 2012.
