The National Ballet Of Canada's First Performance In Russia To Be Livestreamed

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada and Barry Hughson, Executive Director today announced that the company's first performance in Moscow will be livestreamed across Russia on Yandex. The free livestream will take place on October 15, 2018 direct from The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre in Moscow where the National Ballet will perform a mixed programme to a sold-out audience as part of Diana Vishneva's Context festival.

BWW Review: LA Ballet Performs BARTON, CERRUDO & BALANCHINE at The Alex Theatre

A wonderful, young and gifted company, full of enthusiasm and modern moves, the LA Ballet Company delivered a surefooted performance at the Alex Theatre, October 6th, 2018. There are two more performances coming up; one at Royce Hall, UCLA, October 13th, and another at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, October 20, of this same program.

2018/19 Dance Season Announced The Wallis

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (The Wallis), building on its reputation as a prime West Coast home for dance, presents a wide range of innovative dance programs during its 2018/19 season, featuring the return of Jacob Jonas The Company as the 2018/19 Company-in-Residence and the addition to its illustrious roster of The Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Cuba's Malpaso Dance Company, Los Angeles' Ate9 Dance Company and Hubbard Street Chicago & Third Coast Percussion. Lauded since its 2013 opening for presenting the world's preeminent dance companies and choreographers as well championing exceptional rising artists, The Wallis has previously showcased Martha Graham Dance Company, Matthew Bourne's Early Adventures, Twyla Tharp's 50thAnniversary Tour, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Limon Dance Company, South Africa's Dada Masilo, BODYTRAFFIC and L.A. Dance Project, among other esteemed artists. 

Los Angeles Ballet's 13th Season Opens 10/6

Los Angeles Ballet (www.losangelesballet.org), the city's own and only professional classical ballet company, announces its 2018-2019 Season that includes both classical and contemporary programming.

Paola Hartley, Karl Condon And Ilya Kozadayev and More Will Be On Faculty For Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive

ZHONG-JING FANG, soloist of American Ballet Theatre, PAOLA HARTLEY, former principal dancer of Ballet Arizona, KARL CONDON, former principal dancer of the Boston Ballet, and ILYA KOZADAYEV, former soloist of the Houston Ballet will be on the Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive to be held in Shreveport, Louisiana.   Zhong-Jing Fang and Paola Hartley will be on the faculty from July 23-27, 2018, and Karl Condon and  Ilya Kozadayev will be on the faculty from July 30-August 3, 2018.  

Toshiki Okada's TIME'S JOURNEY THROUGH A ROOM Enters Final Weeks

The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Managing Director Robert G. Bradshaw, today announces the complete cast for Toshiki Okada's Time's Journey Through a Room, marking PlayCo's third collaboration with Okada, translator Aya Ogawa, and director Dan Rothenberg, May 10 - June 10, 2018. This haunting play, set in post-Fukushima Japan, will star three Japanese born performers, all of whom are now based in New York: Yuki Kawahisa (Honoka), Maho Honda (Arisa) and Kensaku Shinohara (Kazuki). The play is both an intimate examination of how we move forward from life-altering events, and a study of how we experience time, asking whether we can ever be alive to the present moment.

Michael Nemeroff, Chairman of the Board of The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, begins the second year of his term.

The U.S. Premiere of Toshiki Okada's Time's Journey Through a Room opens this Sunday, May 20, at the Mezzanine Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres. Presented by The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Managing Director Robert G. Bradshaw, Time's Journey Through a Room is PlayCo's third collaboration with Okada, translator Aya Ogawa and director Dan Rothenberg. This haunting play, set in Japan after the Fukushima disaster, stars the Japanese-born, New York based performers Yuki Kawahisa (Honoka), Maho Honda (Arisa) and Kensaku Shinohara (Kazuki). The play is both an intimate examination of how we move forward from life-altering events, and a study of how we experience time, asking whether we can ever be alive to the present moment. 

BWW Review: English National Ballet's VOICES OF AMERICA, Sadler's Wells

Emerging from a winter of traditional crowd-pleasers featuring Nutcracker and La Sylphide, the dancers of English National Ballet were finally allowed to cut loose in this new mixed bill - thanks to some eerie swamp monsters and a new and unexpected club banger from William Forsythe. BWW Review: Richmond Ballet New Works Festival

ichmond Ballet's decade-long running New Works Festival included pieces by Francesca Harper, Tom Mattingly, Mariana Oliveira, and Bradley Shelver. Each choreographer received twenty-five rehearsal hours to create a new work on the company. Shelver described the process (in a pre-performance video introduction) as condensing the intimacy and knowledge of a “ten year relationship into one week.”

Broadway Dance Lab's Spring 2018 Cycle Launches Today

Broadway Dance Lab (BDL), a non-profit choreography incubator supporting new works of dance-driven theatre, has announced that former New York City Ballet principal dancer, and Tony Award nominee, Robert Fairchild, will join Loni Landon and Ray Mercer as guest choreographers for the company's Spring 2018 Cycle. The Lab is set to begin on Feb. 26, and will culminate with a Gala performance on April 2 at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
