Opera Saratoga's Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson announced today complete casting for the three exciting new productions that will comprise the company's 2017 Summer Festival, which will build on the company's commitment to producing masterpieces from the operatic cannon, important American works, and works in which dance plays an integral role. In addition, a wide variety of free and ticketed concert events will be presented from May 28th through July 16th at venues throughout the region.

The Bay Area's acclaimed Lamplighters Music Theatre closes it's 64th Season with the Company's award-winning original musical A Song to Sing, O!: The Gilbert & Sullivan Story. Featuring a salon orchestra and the phenomenal voices of the Lamplighters, this is the fascinating story of one of the greatest partnerships in theater history, as told in their own words through their letters and diaries, with musical highlights from all 13 of their comic operas.

Two masterly and unfairly neglected short plays by W. S. Gilbert - 1874's Sweethearts, a cynical comic masterpiece with timeless observations on the sexes, and The Hooligan, a brutal, yet blackly comic, study of a condemned man's final minutes that was a sensation at its debut in 1911.

At an announcement party held today, Artistic Director Ray Jivoff unveiled Skylight Music Theatre's 2017-18 Season line-up of 'firsts' -- five shows that have never been produced at Skylight.

NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance will present The Pirates of Penzance from March 30-April 2, 2017. The immortal comic opera features libretto by W. S. Gilbert and music by Arthur Sullivan. William Wesbrooks directs.

Palm Beach Opera will present Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance for one weekend only, April 7 - 9, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.

Gilbert, music by Arthur Sullivan) in a fully-staged production performed with an 20-piece orchestra at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College (695 Park Avenue). Utopia founder and artistic director, and Gilbert & Sullivan specialist, William Remmers, stage and music directs.

Israeli-American cellist Inbal Segev, known for her "warm, pure and beautiful tone" (Strings Magazine), will open The Music of Anna Clyne, a concert marking the first night of Roulette's (509 Atlantic Ave) third annual String Theory Festival. Segev will perform Grammy-nominated composer Anna Clyne's Rest These Hands for solo cello. The concert also includes performances of Clyne's music by The String Orchestra of Brooklyn and Mivos Quartet.

The Houston premier of Sir Arthur Sullivan's The Zoo will highlight the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston's 3rd Annual Gala Concert and Silent Auction. The evening will open with choral selections from Messrs. Gilbert and Sullivan's works, including the entire finales from the operas Iolanthe, Mikado, and The Gondoliers (the Society's summer production). Support the Society while enjoying the best of Gilbert & Sullivan, featuring performance and direction by Alistair Donkin, as well as musical direction by Dr. Brian Runnels, with a special guest appearance by former Society music director Dr. Robert Linder.

The Mikado,  the world famous two-act operetta by Sir William Schwenk Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan, will be performed at The Adobe Theater April 20th - May 14th, 2017.
