Pianist Ian Hobson to Perform Six-Concert Series of Debussy & Ravel at SubCulture

The immensely versatile and renowned pianist Ian Hobson, whose playing has been described by Gramophone as 'intensely alive to expressive nuance, textural clarity, and elastic shaping,' will perform 'Sound Impressions: The Piano Music of Debussy and Ravel,' a six-recital cycle of the complete solo piano works of the two composers, at SubCulture, 45 Bleecker Street (between Bowery and Lafayette Streets).

Daniil Trifonov to Offer Seven-Concert Perspectives Series at Carnegie Hall

Mr. Trifonov has already developed an international career as a solo artist, a champion of the concerto repertoire, a collaborator at the keyboard in chamber music and song, and as a composer artistic facets that will all be showcased in his seven-concert Perspectives series this season, beginning with a solo recital in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage today, October 28. At 26 years of age, Mr. Trifonov is the youngest artist ever to curate a Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall.

Winner of the 15th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition Szymon Nehring Makes Carnegie Hall Debut

Winner of The 15th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in May 2017, 21 year-old pianist Szymon Nehring, gives his New York recital debut at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall with an intriguing program of works by Beethoven, Szymanowski and Chopin, presented by the American Friends of the Arthur Rubinstein International Music Society. The winner was also awarded Best Performer of a Chopin Piece and Junior Jury Prizes.

I was fortunate to see the Cirio Collective on Monday, June 24, 2017, a part of the Joyce Theater's Ballet Festival, July 18 - 29. Drawn to see the company of extraordinary American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Jeffrey Cirio, the artistic director of his own company, I was not disappointed. Pianist Kirill Gerstein to Perform in New York and New Jersey

Pianist Kirill Gerstein assumes a variety of roles-solo recitalist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist-in New York- and New Jersey-based performances from Thursday, February 23, to Wednesday, March 1. First he performs Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto in four concerts (February 23-26) with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra conducted by Xian Zhang. The next evening at 7:30 p.m., he gives a solo recital at the McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, performing works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Liszt. He concludes his concerts with a chamber performance of Brahms's Piano Quintet with the Hagen Quartet at Carnegie's Zankel Hall on Wednesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

???????Twenty-five year-old Daniil Trifonov has taken the musical world by storm. Ever since his astounding prize-winning performance at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011, critics have been quick to draw comparisons between the young Russian pianist and the likes of Liszt and Rachmaninoff.

Pianist Kirill Gerstein Performs 1879 Version of Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto With the New York Philharmonic, 2/2-4 & 7

Pianist Kirill Gerstein continues to champion Tchaikovsky's own final version of the First Piano Concerto in four performances with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Semyon Bychkov, on Thursday, February 2 at 7:30 PM; Today, February 3 at 11:00 AM; Saturday, February 4 at 8:00 PM; and Tuesday, February 7 at 7:30 PM. The performances will mark the first time this 1879 version will be heard in New York since Tchaikovsky himself conducted it for the 1891 opening of Carnegie Hall. The concerts also feature Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony and are part of Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World: A Philharmonic Festival (January 24-February 11), the New York Philharmonic and Mr. Bychkov's three-week festival of orchestral, chamber, and vocal programs that explore music by Tchaikovsky and composers who influenced or were influenced by him.
