 Last night, EGOT winner Rita Moreno attended Lorraine Hansberry’s The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window after originating the role of “Iris” in the original Broadway production in 1964. This was the first time Ms. Moreno had seen the show from the audience since the original premiere over 50 years ago. Check out photos and video from her visit!

Hartford Stage to Present TROUBLE IN MIND Beginning in May; Cast Announced

Hartford Stage has announced the cast and creative team of the relevant revival of Alice Childress' watershed play Trouble in Mind. A powerful backstage drama-comedy that's sure to resonate with audiences today as it did in the 1950s, Trouble in Mind will run May 25 through June 18 at Hartford Stage in downtown Hartford, CT.

Theatre for a New Audience Postpones Previews for WEDDING BAND

TFANA (Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) has cancelled the first four performances of its new production of Alice Childress’s Wedding Band, directed by Awoye Timpo, due to two COVID-19 cases discovered through TFANA’s routine testing of the company: April 23 at 7:30pm, April 24 at 7:30pm, and April 27 at 3pm and 7:30pm. The theater plans to begin previews on April 28 and to open on schedule on May 8.

TFANA to Present Alice Childress's WEDDING BAND

TFANA will present Alice Childress’s Wedding Band. Director Awoye Timpo’s new staging, running April 23–May 15, brings Childress’s masterpiece to New York audiences for the first time since 1972, when it made its New York premiere in a production directed by Childress and Joseph Papp.
