Iconic singer, songwriter, author and activist Judy Collins, the 2019 recipient of the Joe's Pub Vanguard Award & Residency, continues her takeover with an eight-night run, November 18-27, celebrating her latest album Winter Stories. A collaboration with critically acclaimed Norwegian folk artist Jonas Fjeld, and masterful bluegrass band Chatham County Line, Winter Stories is a collection of songs that capture the sounds and feeling of the winter season.
This winter season, spend time with loved ones while enjoying uplifting, warm-hearted holiday entertainment courtesy of the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC). This year's Winter Holiday Series includes shows that will delight audiences of all ages featuring A Classical Christmas with the Boulder Philharmonic; Twas the Night Before Christmas; Judy Collins; Masters of Illusion; and Neil Berg's 50 Years of Rock & Roll. The Vanguard Award & Residency is one of many initiatives that furthers The Public's commitment to nurturing and celebrating artists at all levels of their careers. Collins is honored for her legendary career inspiring audiences with her sublime vocals and boldly vulnerable songwriting, but also her fierce activism in social justice and mentorship to many artists. Beyond her own performances, the year under Collins's distinctive curatorial guidance will include Thomas Dybdahl on February 7, plus shows by Mx. Justin Vivian Bond andAri Hest in the spring.
