Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) will present A Chorus Line, as the first of its three-show Summer Nutmeg Summer Series, June 5-14 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theater, Storrs. It's tough to decide what I like more, a great production or a great new theater. Thankfully, I got both during my recent trip to Texas State San Marcos Department of Theatre and Dance. Their current production of Anything Goes is stunning, as is the new Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre.

With its sexist plot, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM is one of those shows that probably was a riot in 1962, but seems like something is lacking when presented a half century later - until the CT Repertory version running as part of the Nutmeg Summer Series. This one, thanks to some solid performances, is funny again.

I am very pleased to say that Texas State University - San Marcos's current production of Into the Woods is easily the best live production of the show that I have yet to see. This winning cast, smart director, and wonderful creative team have created an Into the Woods that is charming, funny, heartfelt, and entertaining above all else.
