TV One Releases 'Behind the Movement' Clip for MLK Day

Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her bus seat 62 years ago was only the beginning. Premiering on TV One in February, BEHIND THE MOVEMENT offers a closer look at how the history-making Montgomery Bus Boycott was planned in just three days and ultimately led to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s

TV One today announced that production is underway in Atlanta, Georgia for the new film, BEHIND THE MOVEMENT, starring Meta Golding ('The Hunger Games'), Isaiah Washington ('The 100'), Loretta Devine ('Waiting to Exhale'), and Roger Guenveur Smith ('American Gangster'). The film is slated to premiere in time for Black History Month 2018.

On Sunday, June 18th, songwriter Britt Bonney will present an evening of her music at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, performed by several Broadway veterans. Audiences will hear a special preview of Britt's newest show Montgomery, featuring Janelle McDermoth as civil rights leader Jo Ann Robinson and Brynn Williams as 15-year-old Claudette Colvin. The concert, entitled "Make a Move: The Music of Britt Bonney," will also include songs written in collaboration with Nadav Wiesel, Anna Marquardt, and David Ballard.

Last night (May 19), The Alliance for Women in Media, presented the 40th Anniversary of The Gracies Awards to a packed house at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the gala, which also celebrated the organization's 40 years of achievements. In honor of that milestone, The Gracies Commemorative Awards were handed out on stage to honorees in recognition of their stellar accomplishments over the years. Guests were greeted by the musical talents of DJ Amy Pham.
