Dorset Theatre Festival Presents THE EVER-MODERN JANE AUSTEN A Talk By Brooke Allen

Dorset Theatre Festival, now in its 41st season, announced today the return of its popular PlayTalks, a series of guest speakers who are experts in their field intended to engage and inform regional audiences in rich and varied ways. The first PlayTalk of the season will take place at the Northshire Bookstore (4869 Main Street, Manchester Center, VT) on August 18 at 6:00 P.M. The event is free and open to the public. Bennington College professor of literature Brooke Allen will give the talk, entitled "The Ever-Modern Jane Austen."

Political Documentary Series THE CIRCUS Returns to SHOWTIME This September

As the country readies for one of the most consequential midterm elections in recent history, the third season of the groundbreaking political documentary series THE CIRCUS returns with nine new episodes starting on Sunday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME. Hosted by John Heilemann, Mark McKinnon and Alex Wagner, THE CIRCUS launched the first part of its third season this past spring recording the series' biggest premiere week ever, growing 10 percent in its second week and delivering a series high of 1.3 million viewers, topping its election week total in 2016.

ZACH Theatre announces an exciting new season add-on and schedule change for the 2018-19 Season. Back by popular vote, Texas' brassy blue Governor Ann Richards will return to the stage next summer with the hit play, ANN running on The Topfer July 31-September 8, 2019 under the direction of original Broadway Director Benjamin Endsley Klein. With the summer stage appearance of the saucy Ann Richards, that loveable East Berlin gender bending rocker Hedwig will now kick off the new year moving Hedwig and the Angry Inch to January, running January 23-March 3, 2019 in The Topfer under the direction of Kevin Cahoon.

It was a picture perfect Berkshire evening on Wednesday, July 25, as WAM Theatre supporters packed the bucolic grounds of the Berkshire Equestrian Center in Richmond. They celebrated and supported the company's ninth season at WAM's sold-out Midsummer Cocktail Party Benefit, hosted by Berkshire favorite Ty Allan Jackson.

Frank M. Young, 77, the founder of Houston's Theatre Under The Stars, Seattle's 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Company, and the New York-based National Alliance for Musical Theatre, died Wednesday in Palm Springs, California. Young directed the activities of TUTS from its inception in 1968 until his retirement in 2006. For two years in a row he was named by the national Theatre Week magazine as one of the 100 most powerful people in American theatre.
