ZACH Theatre announces an exciting new season add-on and schedule change for the 2018-19 Season. Back by popular vote, Texas' brassy blue Governor Ann Richards will return to the stage next summer with the hit play, ANN running on The Topfer July 31-September 8, 2019 under the direction of original Broadway Director Benjamin Endsley Klein. With the summer stage appearance of the saucy Ann Richards, that loveable East Berlin gender bending rocker Hedwig will now kick off the new year moving Hedwig and the Angry Inch to January, running January 23-March 3, 2019 in The Topfer under the direction of Kevin Cahoon.

Original Broadway Director Benjamin Endsley Klein, currently Associate Director of the 2018 Tony Award-winning revival of Carousel, will return to ZACH to direct this inspiring and hilarious play, which will be re-staged in The Topfer. Casting to be announced at later date.

Tough as nails. Funny as hell. ANN brings Texas' brassy blue Governor Ann Richards back to vivid life. You won't want to miss this chance to experience the dry humor and brash charm of the legendary Texas heroine. Conceived and written by Holland Taylor, ANN brings you face to face with a complex, colorful, and captivating character bigger than the state from which she hailed. This Texas-sized story treats you to an up-close-and-personal visit with one of the most unforgettable personalities in politics.

ANN will now play Summer 2019 in the originally announced spot for Hedwig and the Angry Inch, July 31-September 8, 2019. Hedwig and the Angry Inch will now run January 23-March 3, 2019.

Speaking to Austin's live music roots, ZACH opens the season with the first Texas regional theatre production of the eight-time Tony Award-winning musical Once, based on the Academy Award winning film, running September 19-October 28, 2018. ZACH's Topfer lobby will transform into an Irish pub, creating an immersive experience from start to finish. With direction by Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley, Musical Direction by Allen Robertson, Scenic Design by Broadway designer Donald Eastman, music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, and book by Enda Walsh, audiences will fall for this unexpected romance that features a talented ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage.
Casting to be announced at later date.
