MainStreet Theatre Company presents the Theatre for Young Audiences premiere of MIRETTE, with book Elizabeth Diggs, music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones. An hour and a half east of L.A. in Rancho Cucamonga, The MainStreet Theatre Company puts on a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) season at Lewis Family Playhouse. Of that season, one of the shows is specifically chosen for the very youngest audience members and this year it's The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley.

THE MUSICAL ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY, with Book by Timothy Allen Donald, Lyrics by Timothy Allen McDonald, Jonathan K. Waller, and Music by David Weinstein, Jonathan K. Waller, Timothy Allen McDonald and Stephen Gabriel, is based on the Book FLAT STANLEY by Jeff Brown and will be directed by Kevin Cochran at the Lewis Family Playhouse in Rancho Cucamonga, February 1-16, 2014. MainStreet Theatre Company has announced their first production of 2014: The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, a fun- filled musical adaptation of the beloved book by JefF Brown. Kevin Cochran is the director, with choreography by Lisa Hopkins and Musical Direction by Janice Rodgers Wainwright. The production will play two school performances today, January 31st, and open to the public on Saturday, February 1st at 4pm. The strictly limited engagement will run through Sunday, February 16 only.

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents a free reading of Jean Anouilh's Antigone. Robertson Dean, a resident artist with the company, translated and directs the piece. Admission for the reading is free. Please RSVP via phone to 626-356-3100 x1 to reserve your seat.

The readings feature A Noise Within resident artists as well as artists from the theatre company's current repertory productions.

The story, about a little girl who eats too many cupcakes and turns pink, has been delighting youngsters since its publication in 2006, and the musical celebrates everything pink while reminding kids that sometimes too much of a good thing is... too much!. Rolly is a typical kid whose boring summer vacation turns into a terrific adventure when he stumbles on the past and ends up in 10th Century France. There he encounters Princess Aurora, a feisty 12 year old girl who longs to be a knight and travel the world. Aurora's parents don't let her leave the castle walls because of a secret curse that was put on her when she was born. Despite all their protection, Aurora pricks her finger on a spindle and the curse comes to pass - she sleeps for a thousand years. Rolly, back in the present, finds the sleeping Aurora and wakes her up. The two friends are reunited and Aurora gets to discover the world outside the castle at last!
