Theatre at the Center to Present WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, 9/11-10/12

In its first professional production since its Broadway debut, the musical comedy WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN makes its Chicago area premiere in a brand new production at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, September 11 through October 12, with a press opening on September 14. With an irresistible Latin-infused score by Tony Award-nominated David Yazbek and book by Jeffrey Lane (the team behind past Theatre at the Center hit DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS) WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN is a touching and hilarious story of a group of women whose relationships with men lead to a whirlwind of emotions- love as they find them, confusion as they lose them and passion when they need them. This regional premiere is directed by William Pullinsi with Choreography by Danny Herman and Musical Direction and Orchestrations by William Underwood.

Shattered Globe's THE WHALESHIP ESSEX to Run 8/29-10/11 at Theater Wit

Shattered Globe Theatre will launch its 24th season with the Midwest premiere of the nautical drama THE WHALESHIP ESSEX by Founding Ensemble Member Joe Forbrich, directed by Lou Contey, playing August 29 - October 11, 2014 at its resident home, Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are available at www.theaterwit.org, in person at the Theater Wit Box Office or by calling (773) 975-8150. The press performance is Wednesday, September 3 at 7:30 pm.

DreamWrights Presents MY FAVORITE YEAR, Now thru 6/29

Celebrating more than 15 years with DreamWrights, musical director Arlo Ehly will co-direct his final DreamWrights performance My Favorite Year, a high quality, Broadway favorite teen musical. This classic comedy musical will be performed by teens and young adults ages 13 to 22 and will be supported by an 18-piece orchestra, the largest of all DreamWrights' teen and young adult productions to date.

After 200 episodes and nine seasons as America's beloved 1960s sitcom, The Beverly Hillbillies is making strides on stage as a musical for the first time ever. Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana, presents the World Premiere of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, THE MUSICAL, running from July 10 through August 10 with a press opening on Sunday, July 13. Directed by Jeff Award nominee David Perkovich with a musical score by award-winning Chicago composer Gregg Opelka, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, THE MUSICAL, was written by David Rogers and Amanda Rogers, and follows the nouveau-riche Clampett family as they move to the privileged society of Beverly Hills after discovering an oil reserve on their land. From Jed Clampett to Granny, Elly May and Jethro all the favorites from the '60s TV comedy are back and shaking things up as they adjust to their new, fast-paced life while maintaining their hayseed ways.

DreamWrights Scholarship Recipients Announced

DreamWrights awarded the Ann Brougher Noll Memorial Scholarship to Megan Cintron and Kelsey Shealer on May 11, 2014. Ann Davis, executive director of DreamWrights, honored two local teens with $500 each as recipients of the Ann Brougher Noll Memorial Scholarship on Sunday, May 11th, 2014. The award winners are Megan Cintron - graduating senior at West York Area High School and Kelsey Shealer - rising sophomore at University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Homeschoolers from York County and beyond have partnered with DreamWrights for the production of To See The Stars for five performances from today, April 3-5.

DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre Welcomes New Board Members

DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre is pleased to announce the addition of five new members to the Board of Directors in 2014. Stacey MacNeal, a partner in the law firm of Katherman, Heim & Perry, and Joseph Toren, a video communications and English teacher in the York Suburban School District, bring focus and expertise to the team. Our three Teen Advisors: Carter Anstine, a 9th grader in the Dallastown School District, Paige Gross, a 9th grade Homeschooler, and Monica Toren, a Junior at West York High School, add the younger voices and viewpoints necessary to the mission.

Theatre at the Center celebrates the holidays by bringing audiences an endearing combination of a treasured tale and soaring music by a Disney musical genius, A Christmas Carol: The Musical. Composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) infuses the Charles Dickens holiday classic with music the whole family will cherish. Full of cheer for all ages, A Christmas Carol: The Musical opened November 14 and runs through December 22. Theatre at the Center's production will be directed by Artistic Director William Pullinsi and stars five time Jeff-Award nominee Larry Adams as 'Scrooge'.
