Singers and musicians from the Black Broadway community will sing inspirational cover songs from their upcoming album: Darkness RISING. The concert benefits BLK HLTH, an organization which focuses on the wellness of the Black community. The concert will be held at The Triad NYC on Monday, April 2nd at 7pm. Each year, the nationally renowned theater company connects writers at all stages of development with some of the region's most brilliant performers, giving life to the words on the page and allowing book writers, composers and lyricists to see their work in action. This year's various works are brought to life by Alexandria Henderson, Justin Huertas, Matthew Kacergis, Shaunyce Omar, Brandon O'Neill, Timothy Piggee, Hannah Schuerman, Billie Wildrick and many more.

The show is created by Cinco Paul (music, lyrics and book) and Ken Daurio (book), writers of the international hit animated films The Secret Life of Pets, Horton Hears a Who!, The Lorax, and Despicable Me 1, 2 & 3. Bubble Boy is the second major project for Daurio and Paul this summer, with their new film Despicable Me 3 currently in cinemas nationwide. On Sunday, June 18th, songwriter Britt Bonney will present an evening of her music at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, performed by several Broadway veterans. Audiences will hear a special preview of Britt's newest show Montgomery, featuring Janelle McDermoth as civil rights leader Jo Ann Robinson and Brynn Williams as 15-year-old Claudette Colvin. The concert, entitled "Make a Move: The Music of Britt Bonney," will also include songs written in collaboration with Nadav Wiesel, Anna Marquardt, and David Ballard.

In a slew of recent event cancellations, the next installment of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series is relocating due to a recent reception hosted by the venue's owners for Republican Presidential candidate and vocal anti-gay politician Ted Cruz. Last week, it was revealed that Ian Reisner and Mati Weiderpass, owners of The OUT Hotel, had hosted Senator Cruz at their Manhattan penthouse for a "dinner and 'fireside chat,'" as reported by the New York Times. Broadway Sings Bruno Mars, originally scheduled to take place at 8:30 PM on May 17th at 42West in The OUT Hotel, will now take place at The Cutting Room, at the same time and date.
