"Mr. Burns: a Post-Electric Play," written by Anne Washburn and directed by Kyle Cooper, features a group of survivors after the collapse of civilization. The survivors surround a campfire and reminisce about the plot of an episode of "The Simpsons" television show titled "Cape Feare." The production runs November 9-December 2, 2018 in the Young Theatre on campus with Musical Direction by Craig Shields and Choreography by Angeline Mirenda.

Cal State Fullerton's Fall musical is the warm-hearted family play "Children of Eden" featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, (creator of the Tony-Award winning "Wicked," "Pippin" and "Godspell") with a book by John Caird. The production is directed by professional director and actor Rufus Bonds, Jr. with musical direction by David Lamoureaux and choreography by William F. Lett, running October 26-November 11 in the Little Theatre on campus. "Children of Eden" is a musical telling of the inspirational stories of "Adam and Eve," "Noah and the Ark" and other stories from the "Book of Genesis."

REPRISE 2.0 (led by Producing Artistic Director Marcia Seligson), in association with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT) chaired by Brian Kite, presents its inaugural production of Sweet Charity.  Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach, the classic Broadway hit plays through July 1 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Musical blockbusters "Children of Eden" and "Heathers The Musical" join new plays "bee-luther-hatchee" and "Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play" and classics "The Cherry Orchard" and "Lysistrata" on the Cal State Fullerton stages in 2018-19. Two world-premiere-packed Dance Theatre productions also headline the schedule. "Theatre is about story-telling and this season we open with a story about who has the right to tell whose story," explains CSUF Theatre & Dance Chair David Mickey. "Our College of the Arts students have the right to tell stories that are thought provoking, timeless, engaging, and entertaining and this season will create challenging and educational opportunities for our students, as well as myriad performance experiences for our loyal audiences in Orange County."

Casting is now complete for the inaugural REPRISE 2.0 production of Sweet Charity. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the classic Broadway hit plays from June 20 to July 1 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. 

Chance Theater is thrilled to announce its 20th Anniversary Season, which will be the fourth to employ both stages in its home at the Bette Aitken theater arts Center. Book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, directed by Chance's Artistic Director Oanh Nguyen, choreographed by Hazel Clarke, with music direction by Ryan O'Connell.  A Chorus Line opened last Saturday and will continue through August 7th on the Cripe Stage at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center. 

If there was ever one musical that, on the surface, can translate well as an intimately-staged production in a black box theater space, then A CHORUS LINE---the classic 1975 Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning backstage musical---should certainly qualify as a strong contender. This still dazzling, groundbreaking show has been revived at Anaheim's Chance Theater, the lauded small regional theater company in Orange County, CA that has definitively, in the very recent past, shown a knack for taking large musicals and making them smaller, very special ones. For the most part, the same can certainly be said about their newest small-scaled local revival, which continues its extended run through August 7, 2016. Exceedingly admirable despite being a bit rough around the edges, Chance Theater's peppy production reminds audiences old and new why the world of musical theater continues to lure certain dreamy, insanely talented people to this sometimes frustrating, often euphoric, and always competitive profession time and time again.

This idea lingers over the new engaging musical DOGFIGHT, now having its Los Angeles/Orange County-area premiere at the Chance Theater in Anaheim through March 6.
