Grammy-winning Pacifica Quartet is set to celebrate their 10th anniversary as the Don Michael Randel Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Chicago. The quartet will present three public concerts, engage with school and community music programs, and participate in interdisciplinary panels and discussions.

Nathan Louis Jackson, playwright and screenwriter, passed away on Tuesday, August 22 at the age of 44.  Born and raised in Kansas City, KS, Nathan was a graduate of Washington High School, an alum of Kansas City Kansas Community College and Kansas State University and The Juilliard School where he received his MFA in Playwriting. 

​​​​​​​International Contemporary Ensemble is featured in the first of two concerts this season at Roulette on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. The concert, titled George Lewis: Hearing Voices, presents a portrait of the Ensemble's Artistic Director and features the US premiere of Lewis's H. narrans (2020) for voice and chamber ensemble, with text drawn from the writings of postcolonial theorist Sylvia Wynter.

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC)  has announced the 2023 grant awards for the Flamboyan Artist Fellowship. Sixteen Puerto Rico-based artists will receive grants of $5,000 to support artist creativity and cultural preservation. The awards are made possible through a partnership between the NALAC Fund for the Arts (NFA)  grant program and the Flamboyan Arts Fund.

Collage Dance – one of the largest Black-led performing arts organizations in the South and one of only a few professional ballet companies in the world with a roster of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) dancers – has announced that it will receive a two million dollar grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Mosaic Theater Company presents the world premiere of Monumental Travesties, a searing new comedy written by Mosaic's Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Playwright-in-Residence Psalmayene 24 and directed by Mosaic Artistic Director Reginald L. Douglas. Local and renowned playwright and Resident Artist, E.M. Lewis has been awarded another three years of the Mellon Foundation Playwright Residency at Artists Repertory Theatre. Will Power’s Fetch Clay, Make Man (a co-production of Center Theatre Group and The SpringHill Company) will open June 18, 2023, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Debbie Allen, in her CTG directorial debut, directs this account of the unlikely (but real life) friendship between the great Cassius Clay and the controversial Stepin Fetchit; with the cast of Ray Fisher, Edwin Lee Gibson, Wilkie Ferguson II, Alexis Floyd and Bruce Nozick.
