The Broadway Theatre was the place to be last night as talents from stage and screen gathered to celebrate opening night of Tony Award winner Ivo van Hove's new production of West Side Story. BroadwayWorld was there for the big night and you can check out photos from the after party below!

The Axelrod Performing Arts Center added an extra show this season-Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat-for beachgoing theatergoers on the Jersey Shore. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's first collaboration, which has had many lives over its fifty years, has been reimagined by director-choreographer Matthew Steffens and musical directorconductor Andrew Sotomayor. "So much of the score is iconic, but we had a tremendous desire to freshen it up, so we have voices and orchestrated the production so this is a one-of-a-kind production just for the Axelrod," says Steffens. 

Josh Canfield (NBC's Survivor fame and Broadway's "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812") debuts in the Axelrod PAC's musical https:www.axelrodartscenter.comjoseph-at-axelrod alongside Peter LaPrade ("The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical") in the title role, and Amma Osei (Broadway's "Rock of Ages") as the Narrator. The musical runs for 15 performances from July 11 through July 28.

The American Traditions Vocal Competition (ATC) returns for its highly anticipated 26th anniversary season Feb. 18-22, 2019. With an outstanding line up of 28 contestants, three new judges and one new pianist, this year's performances are sure to entertain audiences of all ages.

George Street Playhouse presents Curvy Widow, starring Broadway's Nancy Opel (GSP's The Toxic Avenger, Broadway's Honeymoon in Vegas). The sassy musical comedy will not only close out GSP's 2016-17 season, but also mark the final show performed in The Playhouse's current building. Curvy Widow runs now through May 21, 2017, with opening night scheduled for May 5th, 2017. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40s, the world of film studios and flimsy negligees, “City of Angels” chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist, attempting to write a screenplay of one of his detective novels. Each scene he writes comes to life on stage, starring his hardboiled detective alter-ego, Stone. As Stone's life in the film plot gets more complicated, so does Stine's personal and professional life, until the point when the two plots intersect.  The amazing double score and story do what all good movies should, eventually winding up to two happy endings.
