New Block of Tickets Released Released for Soho Rep and Ars Nova's FUTURITY

At the Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.), Soho Rep. and Ars Nova will present the New York premiere of Cesar Alvarez's Futurity, a new, avant-Americana musical with music by Alvarez and The Lisps, and lyrics and book by Alvarez. Directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, the production will feature 13 actor-musicians. The production is presented in association with Carole Shorenstein Hays.

Soho Rep's 2015-16 Season to Feature Premieres, Workshops & More

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Sarah Benson and Executive Director Cynthia Flowers, Soho Rep. has continually produced work by bold artists who harness the intimate power of the organization's own 73-seat black box theater, as well as other spaces, to create transformative experiences. Soho Rep.'s 2015-16 season, announced today, comprises two more ambitious new works-both characterized by irreverent humor, wild theatricality, and extraordinarily inventive language-and Write with Us, a series of open-to-the-public writing workshops led by acclaimed, Soho Rep.-produced playwrights.

Tickets to First Annual Aspen Theatre Festival Now on Sale

Theatre Aspen announced that tickets are on sale for the first annual Aspen Theatre Festival, held at the Hurst Theatre during the final week of the summer, on August 25th and 28th. The Agent and Finn the Fearless are the two new works being developed as part of the organization's new festival. Tickets range from $20-30 and can be purchased at www.theatreaspen.org.

WAR LESBIAN Begins Tonight at Dixon Place

Dixon Place's new musical commission, WAR LESBIAN, will have its world premiere beginning December 5th. Featuring Erin Markey this original musical, with book by Kristine Haruna Lee, music by Kathryn Hathaway and a cast of ten is directed by Jordan Fein in collaboration with harunalee. WAR LESBIAN will play seven performances only - tonight, December 5th, 6th, 12th,13th, 19th, and 20th at 7:30PM, and December 20th at 10:00PM at Dixon Place (161 Christie Street).

Rhinebeck Writers Retreat Announces 26 Writers of 9 New Musicals Selected for This Summer

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and twenty-six writers selected for the 2014 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, its fourth year of providing working retreats for musical theatre writers. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 29th, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. They are provided with a private home, transportation, food, and a stipend. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers participating this year include Broadway's Mindi Dickstein (Little Women), this year's Kleban Prize winner Nathan Tysen (Burnt Part Boys), and Peter Mills, past winner of the Kleban, Fred Ebb Award, and Richard Rodgers prize. The musicals' subjects cover 19th century nautical mysteries, 20th century fairy tales, a 1970's gay bar, and modern-day meth addicts. Every score is original and styles include 16th century Renaissance, big band, folk, rock, and electronic music.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Presents Free Run of DRACULA, OR THE UN-DEAD, Now thru 7/19

The 26th annual Free Theatre outdoor production of the Williamstown Theatre Festival's 2013 season is Dracula, or the Un-Dead. Adapted by Free Theatre co-founder and WTF veteran Steve Lawson, this dynamic new stage version of Bram Stoker's iconic 1897 tale will be presented on Poker Flats Field on the Williams College Campus (weather permitting). The production runs today, July 10-13 and July 16-19 at 7:30 p.m. Press are welcome to review.

FOLK WANDERING to Play Joe's Pub, 1/9

After sold out shows at Fresh Ground Pepper's PlayGround Festival and Ars Nova's ANT Fest, the youthful powerhouse ensemble of Folk Wandering returns to the New York stage for a special concert performance at Joe's Pub. Tales from tenement Manhattan, Depression-era Utah, and rural 1950s Indiana are woven together in this wistful new folk musical.

Dodging flying peppermints, deformed Noxema jars, kidnappers, claw-knives, aggressive squirrels, the ever-present threat of swine flu, not to mention their counselor, Rose, the campers doggedly pursue their respective Camp Goals - until the unexpected happens, at the Saturday night costume dance.
