Nominations were announced today for the Sydney Theatre Awards for 2013, which will be presented at a gala ceremony on Monday January 20, 2014 at 6pm at the Paddington RSL.

Plays & Players Theatre will present the world-premiere production of a new play from an old friend of Philadelphia. The Disappearing Quarterback begins performances on Thursday, January 16, 2014 (opening/press night January 18th) and closes on Sunday, February 2.

A backstage interview with Mary Bridget Davies, star of the new Broadway musical A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, will appear on ABC's "World News Now" late tonight, December 18 (early Thursday morning, December 19), between 2:30-4:00am. "World News Now" airs from 2:30-4:00am EST on channel 7 (WABC). Check local listings.

The box office at the historic Winter Garden theatre (1634 Broadway) opens Friday, December 20th at 10am for the upcoming musical, ROCKY. In honor of 1976, the year in which the Oscar-winning film was released, ROCKYwill offer a $76 ticket to a select number of preview performances. This offer is only available in person at the box office on Friday, December 20th and will be available on a first come first served basis. ROCKY begins previews February 11, 2014 and officially opens on March 13, 2014.

TUMACHO, an intimate one-night performance with songs to benefit five-time Obie-winning theatre company Clubbed Thumb, will take place tonight, December 16 (7:30pm) at 13th Street Theater. 2013 Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon directs, written by Obie winner Ethan Lipton. The event will feature Patrick Wilson, America Ferrera, Christian Borle, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Kristine Nielsen, Richard Kind, and John Ellison Conlee.

City Theater Company's landmark 2013-2014 season continues with the epic Gypsy. A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, the new Broadway musical, will perform live on 'THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW' tomorrow morning, December 10 between 10-11am. Mary Bridget Davies, critically acclaimed for her portrayal of Janis, is joined by Taprena Michelle Augustine, De'Adre Aziza, Nikki Kimbrough, and NaTasha Yvette Williams to perform the show-stopping Act One finale 'Spirit in the Dark.'
