Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced the cast for its world premiere of American Idiot. Based on the Grammy Award-winning album of the same name, the show features the music of Green Day and the lyrics of its frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. American Idiot is being staged by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer, who also collaborated with Armstrong on the story.

Signature Theatre today announced that the run of its innovative new production of Les Miserables will be extended for four weeks through February 22 due to ticket demand. The environmental staging brings the beloved musical's epic scale of 28 actors, 138 costumes, a Broadway-sized 14-piece orchestra, and a five-ton steel set right into the audience's laps in the intimacy of Signature's 280-seat MAX Theatre.
Signature Theatre today announced that Andrew Call will sing the role of the student revolutionary Marius in its upcoming production of Les Misérables. He will replace Doug Kreeger, who will be performing in the new off-Broadway production of Rooms. Call recently performed in Signature's world premiere production of Glory Days, playing the role of the would-be jock Andy. Call has also performed in Cry-Baby and High Fidelity on Broadway, in Altar Boyz off-Broadway, and in national tours of Saturday Night Fever and Altar Boyz.

On Monday, April 14, Jim Caruso's Cast Party was packed with Broadway newcomers and and a few legendary performers. Award-winning Puerto Rican playwright, director, actor, and journalist Roberto Ramos-Perea will see his controversial play Bad Blood - Malasangre presented as the 40th anniversary mainstage production at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, led by Artistic Director Miriam Colon Valle.
