The exclusive broadcast on WLIW21 honors the 50th anniversary of The Second City, which opened its first theatre December 16, 1959 in Chicago, and spawned the Emmy Award-winning SCTV in 1976, launching the careers of comedy luminaries ranging from Alan Arkin and Joan Rivers to John Belushi, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, and Stephen Colbert. To celebrate The Second City's 50th Anniversary, the legendary comedy theatre will host a weekend of performances, panel discussions and screenings at its intimate theatres on Wells Street and in The Piper's Alley Complex in Chicago on Friday, December 11th through Sunday, December 13th. THE SECOND CITY: PEACH DROP, STOP, AND ROLL will mark Second City's return engagement to Atlanta's Alliance Theatre. The show will run November 6th to December 13th. The show is written and created by the casts of The Second City with additional material by Matt Hovde and Seth Weitberg. The show is directed by Matt Hovde.
