Nominations for the 2016 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards, which honor outstanding dance and choreography on stage and screen, were announced today at the Friar's Club by New York Post columnist Michael Riedel. For the first time, the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards have explored recognizing excellence in dance, movement, and choreography off-Broadway. Twenty eligible shows in the non-profit and commercial off-Broadway arenas met the eligibility requirements and were considered.

The 2016 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 18 categories, with two special awards and two honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted byZachary Levi, star of Broadway's She Loves Me. This year's event was once again a benefit for The Actors Fund. At 8:30 AM tomorrow morning will be the announcement of the nominations for this year's Tony Awards! The announcements will be made by Tony nominee Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon; HBO's Girls) and Tony Award winner Patina Miller (Pippin; CBS' Madam Secretary). The Actors Fund recognized its 2016 Medal of Honor recipients at its annual gala, last night, April 25, 2016 (6pm) at the Marriott Marquis. Honorees included actor and producer Michael Douglas, producer and singer/songwriter Emilio and Gloria Estefan, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, American prima ballerina Cynthia Gregory, and director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw. Just this morning, Something Rotten and Spotlight star Brian d'Arcy James along with this season's break-out and genuflecting sensation Jennifer Simard from Broadway's Disaster announced the The Outer Critics Circle nominees for the 2015-16 season from New York's legendary Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street.)  Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.

Just last night, MCC Theater's Miscast gala, an annual highlight of the New York theater season, honored Oscar winning star of stage & screen and MCC alum Marisa Tomei. The gala featured show-stopping performances by Emmy Award nominee Tituss Burgess; Tony Award winners Lea Salonga and Linda Lavin; Tony Award nominee Keala Settle; and stage and screen stars Aaron Tveit, Beth Behrs, Cynthia Erivo, Ana Villafañe, and Shanice Williams. The new American play Eclipsed by Danai Gurira, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, officially opened last night, March 6th, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). The play also stars Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh and is directed by Liesl Tommy. This Thursday, February 18th, BROADWAY SESSIONS welcomes cast members from Broadway smash ON YOUR FEET! The Story Of Emilio and Gloria Estefan. Cast members will be bringing the heat with an all singing, all dancing extravaganza.

It was an epic night at Broadway Sessions Thursday, February 11th, as cast members from School of Rock descended from the top of Mt. Rock (aka The Winter Garden Theater) and invaded the Laurie Beechman Theater. The kids in the band, and some adults, wielded their instruments like light sabers, slaying tune after tune.
