Jobsite Theater, resident theater company at the Straz Center, is thrilled will kick off its 24th season with this hilarious comedy from the original “wild and crazy guy,” Steve Martin.

Shakespeare & Company has announced the cast of Hymn, by Lolita Chakrabarti - to be staged at the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre at the Shakespeare & Company campus, July 22 through August 28.

New York Stage and Film begins its summer season in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, July 9 and will run for five weeks to Sunday, August 7 for in-person programming that will support more than 35 new stories for theater, film and television. 

This cast is comprised of superb storytellers who use their voices, facial expressions, and movement to draw the audience into the performance. The most remarkable part of Crowns is the way in which it tackles heavy and complicated themes in a way that leaves the audience with an overwhelming feeling joy and hope that unites and uplifts.

Act II Playhouse announces their latest stage musical, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts. The show runs May 3 through June 5. 

American Stage, the Tampa Bay area’s longest-running professional theatre company, today announced Producing Artistic Director Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj will step away for personal reasons, effective immediately.

Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) presents the fourth show of its 2021-2022 season, the contemporary thriller, American Son, by Christopher Demos-Brown and directed by Jonathan Fox. American Son begins previews on Thursday, April 7 at 7:30pm, opens on Saturday, April 9 at 8:00pm and runs through Sunday, April 24, 2022 at The New Vic, 33 W. Victoria Street in Santa Barbara. American Son is a collaboration with The English Theatre Frankfurt, Germany.

Centenary Stage Company's January Thaw Music Festival continues with a performance by American Patchwork Quartet on January 22 at 8:00 pm as well as pre-show presentation A Conversation with American Patchwork Quartet on January 22 at 3:00 pm.

Centenary Stage Company is starting off the New Year with their January Thaw Music Festival and will include a performance by American Patchwork Quartet on January 22 at 8:00 pm. The performances will take place in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ on the campus of Centenary University.

Centenary Stage Company and American Patchwork Quartet are partnering together to collect heritage stories for the #AmericanPatchworkProject. This project will culminate with A Conversation with American Patchwork Quartet on January 22 at 3:00 pm where American Patchwork Quartet will share about their own heritage, their music, and their mission.

In recognition of Filipino American Heritage Month, The Umbrella Stage Company will present a special program exploring the Filipino American Experience through the dramatic writing and production process as part of the 29th annual 2021 Concord Festival of Authors.

The American Theater Group, Somerset County’s newest professional theater company, will present a reimagined version of The Evolution of (Henry) Mann as its 2021-22 season opener. The new musical, by composer Douglas Cohen (Children’s Letters to God) and Dan Elish (13) is an engaging, light-hearted look at finding love in today’s modern world.

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will reinvigorate its WBTT Voices program with a special offering, “Telling Our Stories in the Black Theatre,” on May 4.

Winners have been announced for the 2020 BroadwayWorld Tampa Awards - which were back bigger than ever, celebrating the best in local theatre of the past decade! 

Aurora Theatre Company will continue its 29th season with Toni Morrison’s THE BLUEST EYE, adapted by Lydia R. Diamond. Associate Artistic Director Dawn Monique Williams (Bull In A China Shop) directs this poignant drama about Black girlhood, the poisonous effects of racism, and the heartbreak of shame.

Tampa Repertory Theatre will present a live, virtual production of award-winning Tampa Bay playwright Sheila Cowley's World War II drama Flying on Sunday, August 16 at 3 PM, on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. The production is helmed by internationally renowned stage director L. Peter Callender. A live talkback with the playwright, director and cast will be held following the performance.

American Stage Theatre Company Presents SKELETON CREW. It's 2008, and one of the last auto plants in Detroit is on shaky ground. The remaining factory workers are living paycheck-to-paycheck and now each of the workers must navigate the possibility of foreclosure. As power dynamics shift, and they are pushed to the limits of survival the line between blue collar and white collar gets blurred.  With moments of heartbreak and humor, SKELETON CREW is a beautiful homage to the American blue collar worker.

The New Jersey Ballet joins the Centenary Stage Company for the 2019-20 season with two performances. On Saturday, November 2 at 8:00 pm the New Jersey Ballet will present an All American Evening and on Sunday, November 3 at 3:00 pm with the family favorite Hansel & Gretel. Both performances will be held in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown, NJ.

This production is, in a word - 'tight'. The many facets and elements of the script, costuming, sound, lighting, sets, direction, and cast are all notable in their own right. This is a case where they come together and the whole is, indeed, greater than the sum of the parts. The result is 90-minutes of powerful, intense, and frighteningly plausible theatre that is engaging, emotional, intriguing, important, and regardless of your politics or point-of-view, well worth seeing.
