American Repertory Ballet's 2016 Nutcracker Season will run November 19 through December 18 at venues across New Jersey: Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, McCarter Theatre in Princeton, Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton, South Orange Performing Arts Center in South Orange and State Theatre in New Brunswick. ARB's Nutcracker is a holiday classic featuring Tchaikovsky's score and a cast of over 100 performers, featuring the professional, international dancers of American Repertory Ballet and select students from Princeton Ballet School, the official school of ARB. A holiday tradition since 1964, ARB's is the longest-running Nutcracker production in New Jersey and one of the longest consecutively-running in the United States.
On Friday, November 4, 2016 at 5:15pm, American Repertory Ballet will host a free lecture, "Dancer Nutrition," as part of its On Pointe Enrichment Series. Nutritionist Annie Condit Princeton Healthcare Systems will join ARB Artistic Director Douglas Martin and Princeton Ballet School Dean of Students Lisa de Ravel to discuss proper nutrition for athletes and dancers - for adults and for children who are still growing as they lead an active lifestyle.
The beloved Hans Christian Anderson tale, The Princess and the Pea, comes to life on the South Orange Performing Arts Center stage on October 15 at 2 p.m. This fun, and funny, musical tells the story of a Princess who is introduced to the King and Queen's court just in time to vie for the Prince. However, her arrival in a rainstorm leaves the Queen to doubt her worthiness as a match for her son. This story of acceptance and love and, of course, a 'Pea' will prove that staying true to who you are is the key to true happiness.

Texas Ballet Theater (TBT), the resident ballet company of Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, has named Vanessa Logan as its new executive director, effective September 6, Anne T. Bass, chairman of the TBT Board of Governors, announced.

In celebration of its eleventh season, the company presented 'Geolocate' - a collection of work created by four choreographers from across the globe - in response to hateful rhetoric currently heard with alarming frequency in the news. This concept clearly spoke to a wide of array of people; the concert that I attended - closing night, June 4th, 2016 - contained the most diverse audience I have ever encountered.

Rider's established relationship with Princeton Ballet School will open the doors for students to experience their renowned classic ballet technique, while appreciating and exploring the rich diversity of the dance world. This newly offered 2-week program is developed for young dancers, ages 14-18, with varying skill levels and disciplines. Each day focuses on solid dance training to include bodywork, ballet, contemporary, and a completely different form of dance, all with ballet as the base.
