Taylor 2 Announces Change In Leadership

Former Paul Taylor Dance Company Member Cathy McCann has been named Director of Taylor 2 Dance Company (Taylor 2) by Artistic Director Michael Novak effective May 20, 2019. Ms. McCann was hired after current Taylor 2 Rehearsal Director Ruth Andrien announced that she was stepping down from the role after nine years.

MUSE/IQUE Announces Summer Season At The Huntington

MUSE/IQUE, Pasadena's pioneering performing arts organization, is proud to announce its second summer music series at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens on July 6, August 3 and August 24, 2019. Performances will take place at the Library Lawn. All programs are led by MUSE/IQUE Founder and Artistic Director Rachael Worby, and feature the MUSE/IQUE Orchestra with special guests including vocalist Joshua Henry, cellist Ben Hong, vocalist Liv Redpath, American Ballet Theatre dancers, piano duo Anderson & Roe, and more to be announced.

QPAC Presents Bolshoi Ballet

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) has today announced the cast rotation of dancers from the world acclaimed Bolshoi Ballet to star in the 2019 QPAC International Series, only in Queensland from 26 June.

New 42nd Street and The New Victory Theater Announce 2019 Victory Dance

Victory Dance at The New Victory Theater, which provides free performances and arts education for NYC kids over the summer, returns July 10 - 26, 2019. Presented on the stage of a historic jewel box theater, every dance is introduced by New Victory Teaching Artists and Education staff, and followed by guided activities to help kids think creatively and try a little choreography from their seats. At the end of the program, audience members will have the opportunity to ask the choreographers and dancers questions about their work.

The Washington Ballet Announces Dancer Exchange With The Royal Danish Ballet

The Washington Ballet (TWB) is pleased to announce the dancers taking part in this season's exchange program with The Royal Danish Ballet. TWB's Alexandros Pappajohn traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark on April 8 for two months and has been cast in Lady of the Camellias. Tobias Praetorius a member of The Royal Danish Ballet Corps de Ballet performed with TWB in the company's Three World Premieres at The Harman Center April 3-7, 2019. He had a lead role in Trey McIntyre's Teeming Waltzes.

Ballet Academy East Announces 20th Annual Spring Performance Series

New York City's leading center for complete ballet education, Ballet Academy East (BAE), today announced its 20th annual Spring Performance series taking place at Hunter College's Kaye Playhouse, May 31-June 2, 2019. Approximately 135 students from BAE's Pre-Professional Division will perform during the series. The program features Sleeping Beauty, Aurora's Wedding staged by Maina Gielgud and includes world premieres by Charles Askegard, Amanda Edge, and Alan Hineline. Works by Darla Hoover, Jenna Lavin and Marcia Dale Weary round out the program.

San Francisco Ballet Announces 2020 Repertory Season

Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson and San Francisco Ballet today announced programming for the 2020 Repertory Season. Building on a heritage of commissioning groundbreaking dance from today's top choreographers, uncovering new choreographic talent, staging modern classics, and preserving the works that make up the canon of classic ballet, the 2020 Season places SF Ballet at the forefront of innovation and preeminence. Highlights include two new SF Ballet commissions by Cathy Marston and Trey McIntyre, and a co-commission with American Ballet Theatre of a work by Alexei Ratmansky; as well as works by George Balanchine, David Dawson, Harald Lander, Edwaard Liang, Benjamin Millepied, Mark Morris, Liam Scarlett, Helgi Tomasson, and Stanton Welch. The Season's three story ballets include Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Wheeldon's Cinderella, and Tomasson's Romeo & Juliet.

Ratmansky's Shostakovich Trilogy Closes SF Ballet's 2019 Repertory Season

Alexei Ratmansky's Shostakovich Trilogy returns to San Francisco Ballet (SF Ballet) May 7-12, closing the Company's 2019 Repertory Season at the War Memorial Opera House. Called a "fascinating, thrilling, bewilderingly ambiguous evocation of life in Shostakovich's Russia" (The New York Times), and simply, "a masterpiece" (San Francisco Chronicle), Shostakovich Trilogy is Ratmansky's homage to the composer, using three of his full-length works: the Symphony No. 9, Chamber Symphony, and Piano Concerto No. 1.

HATITIUDES At Tribeca PAC Will Benefit New Federal Theatre

BMCC's Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street, in partnership with New Federal Theatre, will present 'Hatitudes 2019: A Tribute to the Grace and Style of Our Mothers,' a benefit for Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 3:00 PM.

20th Anniversary Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Competition Enters Finals Week

The world's largest student ballet scholarship competition - YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season, with its NYC Finals held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The week of ballet festivities will include YAGP's Final Round (April 17th), YAGP's critically acclaimed Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala performance and dinner (April 18th), with a repeat Gala performance on April 19th. Lastly, on April 20th, YAGP will present an International Dance School Festival, where dancers from all over the globe will perform works representing each school's style and artistic tradition, ranging from beloved classics to cutting-edge contemporary dance.

Cathy Marston Presents Discussion on American Premiere of Jane Eyre with ABT Dancers

American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancers Isabella Boylston, Misty Copeland and Devon Teuscher will join choreographer Cathy Marston for a conversation on her full-length ballet Jane Eyre. Boylston, Copeland and Teuscher will dance the title role in Marston's ballet during ABT's Spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House.

Camille A. Brown And Juel D. Lane Receive $40,000 Alumni Artpreneur Award From UNCSA

Award-winning choreographers and dancers Camille A. Brown and Juel Lane are the recipients of the second annual Alumni Artpreneur of the Year Awards from their alma mater, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), Chancellor Lindsay Bierman has announced. Graduates of the premier UNCSA School of Dance, Brown ('01) and Lane ('02) will each receive $20,000. Brown's award, for creative enterprise, will sustain her New York-based company, Camille A. Brown and Dancers. Lane's award, for a creative project, will be used to create new choreographic work.
