Dominic West, Paul McGann, Penny Downie and Amanda Drew to Star in West End BUTLEY

The full cast has been announced for this summer's West End revival of Simon Gray's comedy Butley. Alongside Dominic West, star of hit US drama The Wire, who will play the iconic title role of the rapier-tongued lecturer Butley, will be Paul McGann (Withnail and I, Doctor Who), Penny Downie, (RSC's Hamlet, Invictus) and Amanda Drew (ENRON, Eastenders).

Rebecca Hall on TWELFTH NIGHT at The National

In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, stage and screen star Rebecca Hall chats about her return to the stage in TWELFTH NIGHT at The National Theatre. The Golden Globe nominated daughter of British director Peter Hall reveals: 'My general rule is one piece of theatre for every three films. I think it's how to preserve one's mystique. I like disappearing, and I think I'll always do it.'

Nancy Carroll Leads 'House of Games' Adaptation at the Almeida, 9/9

UK Daily Mail reports that Nancy Carroll, currently starring in the National Theatre's AFTER THE DANCE, will star in a stage adaptation of Mamet's 'House of Games' film at the Almeida Theatre. The production, reworked from Mamet's screenplay by Richard Bean, will begin performances September 9. Under Lindsay Posner's direction, Nancy Carroll will lead a cast featuring Trevor Cooper, Dermot Crowley, Amanda Drew, Peter de Jersey, Michael Landes, John Marquez, and Al Weaver.

Csokas, Hall Lead TWELFTH NIGHT at National Theatre, Late 2010

UK Daily Mail reports that Marton Csokas and Rebecca Hall will co-star in the National Theatre's TWELFTH NIGHT as 'Orsino' and 'Viola,' respectively. The production, directed by Peter Hall, will begin rehearsals in late November. The rest of the cast includes Simon Callow (Sir Toby Belch), Amanda Drew (Olivia), Simon Paisley Day (Malvolio), Charles Edwards (Aguecheek), Finty Williams (Maria), David Ryall (Feste), and Samuel James (Fabian).

ENRON Extends Record-Breaking Run Till August

Previously scheduled to close on 8 May, the production will continue to run after this date, with a new cast, until 14 August 2010 (the ninth anniversary of the whistle-blowing letter that precipitated Enron's collapse).

KAFKA'S MONKEY Completes Digital Theatre's 2009 Downloadable Catalogue

Today, Wednesday 23 December 2009, Digital Theatre announces the release of the critically acclaimed Young Vic production of Kafka's Monkey by Franz Kafka. Kathryn Hunter's one woman show, in an adaptation by Colin Teevan, is directed by Walter Meierjohann and enjoyed a sell-out season at the Young Vic earlier this year.

What's On Stage Awards Shortlist Announced

At a star-studded nominations party held today (4th December) at London's Café de Paris, the shortlist reveals that popular British screen stars, including Jude Law, Lenny Henry, Helen Mirren, Rachel Weisz, Alison Steadman, Dominic West, Mackenzie Crook and Patrick Stewart, will all battle it out for acting gongs.
