In 1998 when Jason Robert Brown won a Tony Award for the score of this unusually provocative musical Parade, the opulent Broadway production closed to critical acclaim, but due to excessive costs, the show remained inaccessible until the Donmar Warehouse resurrected it and produced a tight - minus the frills - mounting at the Mark Taper Forum in 2009. 3-D Theatricals, who are becoming increasingly known for their superlative skill with producing big musicals, have decided to put back many of the frills of the original and double the cast to its original size - 36, in order to enhance and give the musical the big, full-voiced chorus sound it deserves. And, in my mind, this bigger hybrid version surpasses the Taper's for its grande musical elegance and the presence of a perfectly cast lead actor in the role of Leo Frank, Jeff Skowron.

Tonight, May 13, 2013, Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, will honor Ruth and Stephen Hendel and Ming Cho Lee with a Gala Evening at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York City. Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Eric C. Engel recently announced Gloucester Stage's 34th season of producing professional theatre in Gloucester Massachusetts to begin on June 20 with the award winning musical Spring Awakening directed by Engel.

Resident professional theatre company Festival Stage of Winston-Salem will return to downtown's Hanesbrands Theatre for its fourth season in 2013-14, presenting Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers Oct. 18-Nov. 3; Driving Miss Daisy Feb. 7-23; and the romantic comedy Talley's Folly May 2-18.

San Francisco's African-American Shakespeare Company has announced the lineup for its 19th season. The season marks African-American Shakespeare Company's fourth season under the artistic leadership of acclaimed Bay Area actor and director L. Peter Callender.

Today in 2007, LoveMusik opened at the Biltmore Theatre (now the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre), where it ran for 60 performances. LoveMusik is a musical written by Alfred Uhry, using a selection of music by Kurt Weill. The story explores the romance and lives of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya, based on Speak Low (When You Speak Love): The Letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya. The show was directed by Harold Prince, with musical staging by Patricia Birch and starred Michael Cerveris as Kurt Weill, Donna Murphy as Lotte Lenya, David Pittu as Bertolt Brecht and John Scherer as George Davis.

The Guthrie today announced that it has commissioned Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-winning Broadway songwriter and composer Jason Robert Brown to create an original music piece for its 50th-anniversary gala performance BEHOLD. Brown's composition will be based on text excerpts from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

The Cincinnati Pops' Lollipops Family Concerts are interactive programs specifically designed for children aged three to ten and their families. This weekend, the program will feature a new orchestral piece from lauded composers Jason Robert Brown and Georgia Stitt.

Producer John Frost announced today that due to huge demand, three additional performances of Driving Miss Daisy have been added to the current Perth season, the final performances of the production in Australia. Driving Miss Daisy will play at Perth's His Majesty's Theatre from June 8-19.

These are the kind of actors who earn spontaneous applause the moment they appear on stage. Though they could tell you a thousand stories about the heyday of Hollywood, and are gracious with fans of their screen work, the three stars of DRIVING MISS DAISY are unequivocal about their first love - the theatre.

Alfred Uhry's "Driving Miss Daisy" opens April 11 at 8:00 pm in NTC's Black Box theatre. This heart-warming story is directed by Tony Daniel and stars Susan Patterson, Gerald Kemp, and Lamar Payne. Daniel, Patterson and Payne have long been associated with NTC and have many shows to their credit. Kemp is a newcomer to NTC.

Miss Daisy has now motored in Melbourne after enjoying travelling around Brisbane and Sydney, with the acclaimed production of Driving Miss Daisy previewing at the Comedy Theatre on Friday, April 5, ahead of the official opening night on Saturday April 6 at 8pm.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons has announced initial details for its 2013 special online Auction in connection with its annual Spring Gala. Bidding for the auction, which will feature an eclectic array of items and unique opportunities, begins Friday March 29 at 10AM at www.biddingforgood/playwrightshorizons. Online bidding will continue through Monday, April 15 at 8PM.

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, has announced the sixth and final production of its 2013/2014 Season.
