Series Premiere Of CITY ON A HILL Available Now on Showtime

SHOWTIME has released the series premiere of its new drama CITY ON A HILL early for free online sampling, on streaming platforms and on demand. The series stars Golden Globe® winner and Emmy® nominee Kevin Bacon (The Following) and Screen Actors Guild® Award winner Aldis Hodge (Underground). CITY ON A HILL is created and executive produced by Chuck MacLean (Boston Strangler). Multiple Emmy winner Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life on the Street) serves as showrunner and executive producer. The premiere episode is available for free now on YouTube, Facebook and SHO.com. The 10-episode series will officially premiere next Sunday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.

SHOWTIME released the poster and new trailer for its upcoming one-hour drama series CITY ON A HILL starring Golden Globe® winner and Emmy® nominee Kevin Bacon (The Following) and Screen Actors Guild® Award winner Aldis Hodge (Underground). Premiering on Sunday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, CITY ON A HILL is currently in production on 10 episodes in New York and Boston.

After 10 days and 121 feature films, the 2019 Sundance Film Festival's Awards Ceremony took place tonight, with host Marianna Palka emceeing and jurors presenting 28 prizes for feature filmmaking. Honorees, named in total below, represent new achievements in global independent storytelling. Bold, intimate, and humanizing stories prevailed across categories, with Grand Jury Prizes awarded to Clemency (U.S. Dramatic), One Child Nation (U.S. Documentary), Honeyland (World Cinema Documentary) and The Souvenir (World Cinema Dramatic).

WHAT MEN WANT Presents the 'Women of Football' Event

Paramount Pictures' WHAT MEN WANT fourth annual Women of Football event presented by Women Rising will return to the Super Bowl week event lineup in Atlanta on Sat., Feb. 2 from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. EST., at American Cut Steakhouse. In partnership with Paramount Pictures' new film, WHAT MEN WANT, the event will feature a Q&A with the film's producer Will Packer (Girl's Trip, Night School, Think Like a Man), special VIP & celebrity guests, NFL industry influencers, live music from Atlanta's DJ Hourglass and 13-year-old Lauren Mckenzie, and heavy hors d'oeuvre & signature cocktails.

SHOWTIME will premiere its new one-hour drama series CITY ON A HILL starring Golden Globe winner and Emmy(r) nominee Kevin Bacon (The Following) and Screen Actors Guild(r) award winner Aldis Hodge (Underground) on Sunday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Production on the 10-episode series will begin in February in New York and Boston. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., at the Television Critics Association's Winter Press Tour.

THE COLOR PURPLE'S Danielle Brooks to Host Season Eleven of AFROPOP

Award-winning actress Danielle Brooks, star of Netflix's blockbuster series Orange Is the New Black, has been named host of the eleventh season of the public television series AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange. Brooks will help guide audiences as they journey through AfroPoP's new slate of documentary and short stories on contemporary life, art and culture in the African Diaspora. Season 11 of the series, which highlights diverse issues including social justice, politics, LGBTQ identity, fashion and violence against women, premieres at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 21, on the WORLD Channel, with a new episode airing each Monday through February 18. AfroPoP is produced by Black Public Media (BPM) and co-presented by American Public Television (APT). 

Sundance Film Festival Announces 2019 Film Lineup

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

The LA Film Festival, produced by Film Independent, announced the winners of the 2018 Festival at the Awards Reception at the W Hotel in Hollywood presided over by Festival Director Jennifer Cochis and Film Independent President Josh Welsh. Brian Banks Wins Audience Award For Fiction Feature Film at LAFF

Today the Los Angeles Film Festival, produced by Film Independent, announced the winners of the 2018 Los Angeles Film Festival where Brian Banks won the Audience Award for Fiction Feature Film. This award is given to the fiction feature audiences liked most as voted by a tabulated rating system. Select fiction feature-length films screening in the following sections were eligible for the Audience Award for Best Fiction Feature: U.S. Fiction, World Fiction, LA Muse, Nightfall and Premieres.

STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS to Premiere on CBS All Access

CBS All Access today announced that STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS, four stand-alone short stories, will begin rolling out on Thursday, Oct. 4, in anticipation of the early 2019 return of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. Each short will run approximately 10-15 minutes and will be an opportunity for fans to dive deeper into key themes and characters that fit into STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and the expanding 'Star Trek' universe.

SHOWTIME has named multiple Emmy winner Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life on the Street) as showrunner, executive producer and one of the writers on the upcoming drama series CITY ON A HILL, starring Golden Globe® winner and Emmy nominee Kevin Bacon (The Following) and Screen Actors Guild® award winner Aldis Hodge (Underground). Fontana will work closely with series creator and executive producer Chuck MacLean (Boston Strangler) on the 10-episode series premiering in 2019.
