Last night, BMI® (Broadcast Music, Inc)® celebrated the songwriters, producers and publishers of the year's most-performed R&B/hip-hop songs during the 2018 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards held at The Woodruff Arts Center's Symphony Hall in Atlanta. Multiple award-winning superstar Janet Jackson took home the night's highest honor of BMI Icon in recognition of her groundbreaking career as one of the most influential entertainers of all time.

The month kicks off with local songstress Melveen Leed and the return of the Honolulu Jazz Quartet presenting a Tribute to Bird & Dizzy: The Birth of Bebop. Good music runs in the Artis family, so don't miss PraiseJesus Artis in her Blue Note debut. Jazz talent Abe Lagrimas Jr. is up next, followed by the Na Hoku “Female Vocalist of the Year” Kimié Miner. Paula Fuga returns with a tribute to Aretha Franklin and soul-singer DeAndre Brackensick is back with Shawn Pimental. We welcome Willie K back to the stage following a successful mainland tour and present the Blue Note debut of Kamuela Kahoano. The youngest of the family, Rodney Cazimero joins us later in the month followed by local giants Kumuhau,Brother Noland & John Cruz and Kuana Torres Kahele presenting 'Kakuhihewa, his tribute to O'ahu.

2019 Broadway Concert Series Announced At Aventura Arts & Cultural Center

Five of Broadway's brightest stars are coming to Aventura Arts & Cultural Center as part of the 2019 Broadway Concert Series and fans purchasing an early bird subscription for all four shows by October 5, 2018 will receive 15 percent off single ticket prices for appearances by: Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner; Faith Prince; Jeremy Jordan; and John Lloyd Young. Tickets to individual concerts in the series are $45-$49 with $75 VIP tickets that include meeting the artist.
