The world premiere production of the Center Theatre Group-commissioned 'Venice,' a new musical that tells a rich story of war, love, betrayal and the quest for peace with a powerful score that fuses elements of hip-hop, R&B and opera. At the CTG/Kirk Douglas Theatre. Opening is set for October 17.

Center Theatre Group has announced that costume designer Ann Closs-Farley will be honored with a 2010 Sherwood Award. Closs-Farley's work will soon be seen on Broadway in The Pee-wee Herman Show.

The 2010-2011 season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center begins by welcoming the debut of Spain's only classical ballet company Corella Ballet Castilla y León to the Ahmanson Theatre, November 5-7,2010. The company was founded by American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Ángel Corella to promote classical ballet in Spain and to nurture Spanish dancers and offer them an opportunity to cultivate their talent in their home country. Corella Ballet Castilla y León offers a wide repertoire, incorporating classical, neoclassical and contemporary choreography.

Stephanie J. Frank Bayer, whose long career in theatre included stints as actor and stage manager on Broadway and as casting director and production supervisor at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, died on September 22, 2010. He was born June 29, 1936, in Brazil, Indiana.

Zach Grenier will reprise his Tony Award-nominated role in '33 Variations' at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre, joining two-time Academy Award-winner Jane Fonda who stars in the compelling new play written and directed by Moisés Kaufman. The West Coast premiere of '33 Variations' will be presented January 30 through March 6, 2011. Opening is set for February 9. Both Grenier and Fonda will perform the roles they played in the 2009 Broadway run of '33 Variations.' The play was nominated for a total of five Tony Awards, including Best Actress for Fonda and Best Featured Actor for Grenier.
