Gate Theatre Adds Extra Performances for ASSATA TAUGHT ME

Gate Theatre, Notting Hill today announces, due to high demand, an additional six performances for its world premiere production of Kalungi Ssebandeke's debut play Assata Taught Me.  The play tells the story of an imagined friendship between Assata Shakur, former Black Panther and the FBI's most wanted woman, and her pupil in Cuba.  Associate Director of the Gate Lynette Linton directs Adjoa Andoh as Assata and Kenneth Omole as Fanuco in the production which now runs until 2 June.

When Sir John Chilcot stepped up to the mic to deliver his long-awaited verdict on the 2003 invasion of Iraq, he did so calmly, steadily, but with forensic and devastating analytical precision. David Hare's STUFF HAPPENS, which beat Chilcot to the punch by some 12 years, is similarly measured, mixing detailed documentary re-enactment with imagining of what went on behind closed doors.

UNHCR Benefit Concert Set for National Theatre

This Valentine's Day, Sunday 14 February, leading names in British theatre will come together to perform a benefit show for the UNHCR at the National Theatre.  The afternoon performance in the NT's Lyttelton Theatre will see actors including Juliet Stevenson (Truly, Madly, Deeply), David Morrissey (Hangmen), Andy Nyman (Hangmen), Rufus Hound (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), James Bolam (New Tricks), Noma Dumezweni (Linda), Ray Fearon (Coronation Street), Adjoa Andoh (Dr Who) and Zubin Varla (Dara) perform brand new work and much loved work by Richard Bean, Staten Cousins-Roe, Stephanie Dale, David Edgar, Phil Porter, Michelle Terry, Jenifer Toksvig and Matthew Woodyatt (with further cast and creative names to be announced).
