Singer-songwriter Liz Kate has joined the cast of the upcoming 'Dear Evan Hansen' film in an undisclosed role. 

Deadline has reported that Colton Ryan and Nik Dodani have joined the cast Universal's film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen. Dodani will play Jared and Ryan will play Connor.

According to Deadline, film star Amandla Stenberg has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' upcoming Dear Evan Hansen film. Stenberg will play Alana- a role that will be expanded for the film and will feature a new song, written by Stenberg in collaboration with musical composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Booksmart star Kaitlyn Dever is currently in talks to play Zoe Murphy, the female lead in the movie musical adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen, according to Deadline. Ben Platt is expected to reprise his role as the title character in the film and with Stephen Chbosky is set to direct the film.

Oscar® winner John Ridley (12 Years A Slave, GUERRILLA) is joining the upcoming SHOWTIME untitled musical drama series as executive producer, writer and director. 15-time Grammy® winner Alicia Keys serves as executive producer along with the Oscar, Tony® and Grammy winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman), who will also contribute music. The project centers on an emotionally complex family story that spans generations and threatens the fabric of the community in present day Milwaukee. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

SHOWTIME has made a series commitment to an untitled musical drama series executive produced by multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys and the Oscar, Tony and Grammy winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman). Pasek and Paul will contribute music to the series. Kyle Jarrow (The SpongeBob Musical) will write and executive produce. According to Deadline, Dear Evan Hansen will soon be adapted for the big screen! The Tony winning musical will be produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, with creators Benj Pasek and Justin Paul expected to executive produce. Steven Levenson, who won a Tony Award for his book, will write the screenplay.

Fox has given a script commitment with penalty to Saturday Night Special, a drama about police officers in Washington, D.C, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series comes from writer Robert Specland, who executive produces with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel.
