Producer Marc Platt Sets Police Drama at Fox

Fox has given a script commitment with penalty to Saturday Night Special, a drama about police officers in Washington, D.C, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series comes from writer Robert Specland, who executive produces with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel.

The show is described as a grounded police soap that follows a group of tight-knit officers as they work Saturday nights, the wildest, most dangerous shift of the week. It will look at the police force from lieutenants to rookies and how the job affects their lives and vice versa.

The project is set up at 20th Century TV and Platt's production company.

Saturday Night Special is the third crime drama FOX has put into development this year, joining Greg Berlanti's Prodigal Son and Howard Gordon's Connect.

Marc Platt is best known for producing Broadway hits such as Wicked, The Band's Visit, Oh! Hello, If/Then, and live theatrical television productions like A Christmas Story Live, and the upcoming Rent Live.
