Sarasota's original antidepressant is back and ready to bring on the laughter in 2013. Today nights at 8:30pm, FST Improv will create characters and sketches on the spot. Not even the performers know what to expect - until it happens. The comedy begins tonight, January 19th for the winter season in the Goldstein Cabaret.

Florida Studio Theatre's WRITE A PLAY season begins with the notion that "everyone has the potential for greatness" in the World Premiere children's play, THE FROG PRINCE adapted by local playwrights Beth Duda and Adam Ratner and directed by FST's Associate Director, Kate Alexander. Performances begin in the Gompertz Theatre today, September 25 and will play through November to more than 11,000 students from Sarasota and Manatee County schools.

Play titles such as 3 Egg-cellent Eggs, Flipper's Fright, Three Mice Save the Day and The Postman That Bit Back! represent the creativity in the minds of the Young Playwrights. Florida Studio Theatre will celebrate the achievements of the winning playwrights with the Young Playwrights Festival Day on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Over 300 people will travel to Sarasota from as far as Miami and across the seas (Vladimir, Russia, Tel Mond, Israel and Dunfermline, Scotland) to see the plays and receive recognition.

With the world premiere of Laughing Matters in the Goldstein Cabaret, FST officially embarks on the SARASOTA FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS. The festival is a dynamic event that gives continued life to the work of emerging playwrights, going beyond producing the world premiere. This year, FST produces the 20th annual festival. SARASOTA FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS attracted playwrights, actors, directors, and designers from around the country to produce the following components of the 2011 festival:
