Florida Studio Theatre has announced the winning plays of this year's annual youth playwriting competition. Now in its 31st year, FST's WRITE A PLAY program is an arts-in-education initiative, providing students with the example, the inspiration, and the skills to write their own original plays. Over the course of the 2021-2022 academic year, FST received submissions from almost 4,600 playwrights.

Florida Studio Theatre has announced the winning plays of this year's annual youth playwriting competition. Now in its 29th year, FST's award-winning WRITE A PLAY (WAP) program is a year-round arts-in-education initiative, providing students with the example, the inspiration, and the skills to write their own original plays. Over the course of the 2019-2020 season, FST received submissions written by over 7,600 young playwrights between the ages of 5-18a?"the most playwrights who have submitted plays to the program in over twelve years.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) will present The Star Who Could Not Twinkle & Other Winning Plays, a collection of plays inspired by the imaginations of children in sixth grade and below. The Star Who Could Not Twinkle & Other Winning Plays is presented as part of FST's WRITE A PLAY (WAP) program, an award-winning arts-in-education initiative that provides students with the example, the inspiration, and the skills to write their own original plays. Plays generated through the program are submitted to FST's annual youth playwriting competition. Winning playwrights have their work selected out of thousands of submissions from around the world, to be brought to life in a professional production performed by skilled actors at FST. This year's anthology of winning plays is titled The Star Who Could Not Twinkle & Other Winning Plays.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST)'s winter Improv season kicks off with FST Improv Presents: When X Meets Y, an improvised musical inspired by a location suggested by the audience and three random notes on the keyboard. In this show, FST Improv cast members weave a story of love, heartbreak, drama, and destiny infused with music and comedy. Previously performed as isolated holiday-themed performances, this is the first time that When X Meets Y is getting its own full multi-week run. FST Improv Presents: When X Meets Y will run every Saturday in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre beginning January 12 through February 16.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces its Fall Improv Season, which includes a brand new performance every Saturday, plus three special holiday-themed shows that will bring laughs, scares, and holiday cheer to Sarasota. The season kicks off on October 6 with FST Improv's classic comedy competition, Out of Bounds, where two teams of improvisers go head-to-head to compete for the most audience laughs. Out of Bounds runs every Saturday in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre through December 22.

Florida Studio Theatre concludes its second Children's Theatre season with The Boy Who Liked Pulling Hair & Other Winning Plays, a collection of authentic stories from the imaginations of children in sixth grade and below. Part of the WRITE A PLAY program, this production will be performed on the Keating Mainstage by FST Acting Apprentices. With 13 inspiring and invigorating pieces selected from over 3,500 submissions, The Boy Who Liked Pulling Hair & Other Winning Plays reveals children's unique voices.

Florida Studio Theatre's home Improv team goes head-to-head in a truly one-of-a-kind celebration of spontaneity, improvisation, and April Fool's Day. On March 31, some of the Gulf Coast's top improvisers will compete in a series of scenes, songs, and games to win your laughter, your applause, and the coveted title of "Champion of Fools."
