The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) presented $3.25 million at their annual Grants Banquet held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The evening was hosted by William H. Macy. Talent who accepted grants on behalf of nonprofit organizations included Alfonso Cuaron, Alfre Woodard, Amber Heard, Ben Hardy, Billy Porter, Charlize Theron, Chris Messina, Christian Slater, Cody Fern, Connie Britton, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Fanning, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Jason Bateman, Jason Reitman, Jennifer Garner, Joey King, John Cho, John David Washington, Lena Waithe, MJ Rodriguez, Nia Long, Rami Malek, Regina King, and Steve Carell.
The Actors' Gang will begin performances for the 2018 Free Shakespeare in the Park for Families production of Much Ado About Avengers beginning Saturday, August 4th, continuing a 12-year tradition of free theater in Media Park. Based on William Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" and inspired by the characters of Marvel's The Avengers, this 45 minute, all?ages production will run every Saturday and Sunday of August at 11am, through August 26th.
BEDLAM announces the new production of UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET. Producer Steven Espinosa announced today that The Tony Martini Variety Hour is extending its run at Three Clubs Lounge in Hollywood through the end of 2018. The show plays on the fourth Thursday of every month at 8pm.
The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams' much loved, absurdist and subversive satire, is presented in a vibrant, fast paced, gender-bending production directed by Madeleine Dahm, from Thursday, June 14 through Sunday, June 17, 2018, including a Science Fiction Costume Night on June 16, at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in the Lovelace Studio Theater. After its first appearance as a radio play originally produced by BBC 4 Radio in 1978, Adams' work quickly became a worldwide cult classic celebrated for its sharp wit and ironic style. Dahm's version at The Wallis integrates puppetry, stylized movement, miniature sets and live music to bring the timely political satire to life.

The Actors' Gang has announced an extension of "The New Colossus" due to strong ticket sales. The production will now continue through May 12 at The Actors' Gang Theater. Directed by Tim Robbins and written The Actors' Gang ensemble and The Actors' Gang's Artistic Director, Tim Robbins. The world premiere of The New Colossus began previews on February 8 and opened on February 17, 2018. The new American play readings commence on Saturday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. with Laurel Ollstein's They Promised Her the Moon, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (Somewhere, The Whipping Man at the Globe), followed at 7:30 p.m. by Too Heavy for Your Pocket by Jir h Breon Holder, directed by Patricia McGregor (Globe for All's Measure for Measure).The Festival continues on Sunday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m. with The Tale of Despereaux, with book, music, and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Co.
