BroadwayWorld has learned that that Broadway Stars and real-life couple Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young will headline the First National Tour of the musical comedy First Date. Although DeGarmo and Young were both contestants on 'American Idol,' their 'first date' was during the Broadway production of HAIR in 2010. After dating for three years, they tied the knot in 2013 and immediately starred in the National Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. They will share the stage once again beginning fall of 2020. First Date is written by Austin Winsberg (book) with Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (music and lyrics) and this newly updated production will be directed by Matt DiCarlo (NYNational Tour: The Play That Goes Wrong). Ace Young is Radames in Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, which is now being performed at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center's Vogel Auditorium this June to the delight of its audiences.

Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida is now being performed at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center this June to the delight of its audiences. Aida first opened on Broadway in 2000 and ran for four years. The Broadway production starred Adam Pascal, Heather Headley, and Sherie Rene Scott in the lead roles. The highly acclaimed show was nominated for five Tony Awards, and won four out of five, including Best Original Score. The Aida cast recording also won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

The Axelrod Performing Arts Center reunites with Luis Salgado and the team from Salgado Productions for their third collaboration, "Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA," opening May 31, 2019. Previously for the theater, Salgado directed and choreographed "In the Heights" in 2017 and "Ragtime The Musical"  in 2018, both of which received nominations for best regional production of a musical.

Pittsburgh CLO's 2019 Summer Season will be highlighted by stand-out performances from Broadway's best and distinguished stars of film and television, including Jenn Colella, star of Tony-winning Come From Away, Charles Shaughnessy, best known as Maxwell Sheffield on TV's The Nanny and Ace Young of American Idol fame.

Royal Family Productions will present a special invite-only reading of the musical Rock and Roll Refugee. Written by Chris Henry and Genya Ravan, directed by JoAnn Hunter with musical direction by Daniel A. Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts will present the next production within its 'In Concert' series, 'INTO THE WOODS'. There will be multiple performances, March 8 at 8 p.m. and March 9 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
