ABC is bringing back AMERICAN IDOL! The network has closed an agreement with producers FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment, a division of CORE Media Group.

Roundabout Theatre Company and Education at Roundabout have announced the Theatrical Workforce Development Program (TWDP), the theatre industry's first workforce development program to train and place young adults in professional technical theatre careers. This new initiative aims to break down the barriers that prevent young adults from joining the industry and empower a diverse new generation of theatre professionals.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theater Festival, has announced extensions for nine productions - A SCYTHE OF TIME, LISA AND LEONARDO, CHILDREN OF SALT, EH DAH? QUESTIONS FOR MY FATHER, TINK!, DUST CAN'T KILL ME, SINGLE, NEWTON'S CADLE and CAMP ROLLING HILLS.

On July 7th the girls of Springfield High School received a fun surprise - at each performance a man is selected from the audience to portray the music teacher, Mr. Lee.  Last night that participant happened to be Russell Tovey, star of Broadway's The History Boys, and well as HBO's "Looking".   Also in the audience were Dee Hoty (Bright Star) and Nancy Opel (Honeymoon in Vegas, Urinetown) as well as Ace Young (American Idol, Broadway's Grease and Hair).

Executive Producer Aaron Grant has announced that American Idol Finalist Ace Young will star in the new musical SINGLE as part of the New York Musical Festival.

Broadway and Symphony Pop Siren N'Kenge joins the All Star Cast at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) which will host a Funk-Raising evening to benefit the development of 54: the musical, the first project selected for its new works initiative. The evening, featuring selections from 54, will be held June 17 at 8 PM at The House of Independents (HOI) in Asbury Park, NJ. Directed by Rachel Klein with choreography by Liz Piccoli, 54:the musical features a book by playwright and actress Renee Bang Allen.

Producer/Directors Tom and Michael D'Angora were welcomed American Idol and Hairspray alum Diana Degarmo to The Marvelous Wonderettes, whose official opening was Thursday, June 2nd.  For her opening night performance, DeGarmo was joined onstage with a surprise cameo from her husband, former Idol alum and star of Broadway's Hair, Ace Young, as the audience participant, Mr Lee.  The show celebrated with friends and Broadway stars afterwards at Oovina Latin Kitchen and Wine Bar.

From May 25th through July 31st. Diana joins the production in the role of Suzy Simpson, the lovable bubble-blowing Wonderette who sings such hits as "Stupid Cupid", "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me", "Rescue Me", and "Respect".

Earlier this week,  La MaMa  hosted a 29-hour Equity reading of Chix 6, with Book/Music/Lyrics by Lourds Lane. The event featured direction by Jackson Grace Gay, music direction by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett, and assistant music direction by Julie McBride.

Just moments before the show left the air, viewers were stunned to hear Seacrest add the words 'For now.'

Last night's two-hour series finale of AMERICAN IDOL ended with a bang, delivering a 9.6/15 in metered market ratings.

Last night on AMERICAN IDOL, the lights were dimmed for a final time and host Ryan Seacrest made one last dream come true, as Trent Harmon, 25, from Amory, MS, was named the 15th and final AMERICAN IDOL in the history-making series finale live from Dolby Theatre.
