Hypokrit Theatre Company and Access Theater present R + J, a female/genderqueer adaptation of Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet. Adapted and directed by Molly Houlahan featuring a diverse cast of 6 women/ gender-nonconforming actors playing all of the roles, previews begin September 27 at Access Theater in Tribeca. Opening is slated for Thursday, October 4.
Access Theater is thrilled to announce the theater companies and artists who will join the Access community as 2018-2019 Resident Artists. The seven theater companies that will be in residence for the full year are: The Anthropologists, The Navigators, Rat Queen Theatre, Square One Collective, Tiny Trip, Upstream Artists' Collective, and Puss Collective. The individual artists who will spend six months as residents at Access include: Ashley Griffin, James Kennedy, Minhui Lee, Noam Shapiro and Paulo K Tirol, Ran Xia, Susanna Wolk and Justine Gelfman, Ty Defoe and Tidtaya Sinutoke, and Valerie L Work.

Ghostlight Records has announced it will record the New York City Center production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's musical Brigadoon, for a new cast recording to be released this fall. Brigadoon has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Starring Kelli O'Hara, Patrick Wilson and Stephanie J. Block, the show features The Encores! Orchestra, led by Music Director Rob Berman. The Annual Gala Production was directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, with Jack Viertel serving as artistic advisor. The album is being produced by Kurt Deutsch, Lawrence Manchester, Rob Berman and Emily Altman.

Today, The 24 Hour Plays, in partnership with The New School for Drama, announced that the annual application for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will open on Monday, March 19, and will remain open until Sunday, April 15. Callbacks will take place in both New York City (May 1-3) and Los Angeles (May 4, including a special industry panel). Once again, the Nationals will take place in August in New York City.
On Monday, April 9, Roundabout Theatre Company's Roundabout Underground playwriting alumni will gather to present The 24 Hour Plays Off-Broadway. Six playwrights, six directors, 24 actors and a musical guest will perform six brand new short plays written & rehearsed over the course of a single day. The performance will begin at 8:00pm at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).
